Products that do what Python Static Blog Generator does
Dear reader, Just over a year ago I started on a static blog generator. First in Perl, but soon I wrote a Python version as well and kept developing both versions in parallel. I have been using this program to generate my own tumblelog, https://plurrrr.com/, which has been up and running for over a year with daily posts (please check it out). It's a good example of how a blog generated with the program looks. The software comes with 10+ templates so you are not stuck with the same look as Plurrrr. Please check it out: https://github.com/john-bokma/tumblelog…

Hi everyone! I just released the Practical Python Projects book! (https://practicalpython.yasoob.me) I am happy to announce the first version as a release candidate. I have poured a lot of love into writing this book and would love to hear what you guys think. (A limited 100% off and discount coupons at the end) This is not a pure beginner book. The book does assume some background Python knowledge. You need to know the basics like methods, functions, classes, and such. If I use something that is not typically covered in beginner Python books, I will explain it before I use it.…

I recently re-jiggered my blog to use pinboard as it's CMS. A cron job runs once every 15 minutes and generates a static HTML file of my most recent 15 posts. Yes it is fairly limited in what it can do, but it's a great simple way to make what I already do on pinboard into a link blog.

`pandoc-sitegen` uses pandoc and mustache templating to turn a bunch of markdown files into a minimalist site, while still allowing for things like an automatic list of blog posts. I was really frustrated with the complexity of most existing static site generators like Jekyll and Hugo -- it seemed like even a basic blog required an immense amount of configuration and provided tons of features I didn't need. I built this mostly for myself, but I'd love any feedback on it :)

Hey HN. I've just launched my very first webappp and would love your feedback. http://www.7bks.com It's a book list sharing website - kind of like playlists for bookworms. The site is built on pyton/appengine - and I learned to code in under 4 weeks to build the site. There's more details on the background of the site here: http://www.7bks.com/blog/179001 I've also published the full Python code for the site here: https://gist.github.com/670034 Feedback is really important to me and I want to work hard to make the site better so any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. I had an idea a couple days ago and I went with it. Basically, the idea was to create an IRC channel to help people find jobs; computer related jobs, in particular. There would be a bot to display job listings. So I started working on a first take on the bot. I decided to use Python because I love the language and I wanted to get more experience with a its libraries. TwitterBot (or JobFeeder on ##jobfeed) as I call it, uses Twisted (https://pypi.python.org/pypi/Twisted) and Twitter (https://pypi.python.org/pypi/twitter)for now. Basically, it gets the…

https://rxjourney.com.ng I realize SvelteKit is overkill, but I originally had bigger plans for the blog, before deciding to just keep it simple. Yeah, I had Medium open on a different tab while building. It's going to be a personal blog where I write about my experiences, if you're interested you can subscribe to the newsletter.
