Products that do what Ratarmount 1.0.0 – Rapid access to large archives via a FUSE filesystem does

Hi HN, Since my first posted introduction of ratarmount [0], 2 years have gone by and many features have been added. To summarize, ratarmount enables working with archived contents exposed as a filesystem without the data having to be extracted to disk: pip install ratarmount ratarmount archive.tar mounted ls -la mounted I started this project after noticing the slowness of archivemount with large TAR files and wondering how this could be because the file contents exist at some offset in the archive file and it should not be difficult to read that data. Turns out, that part was not…

Check out my TUI I wrote for viewing and querying an LDAP. I need to do basic queries and validation daily for work, and as I work on a mac, there are really no good options. The major player is the Apache Directory Studio which is... not great. So I decided to create a new one.

I built a Rust-based CLI/terminal UI for inspecting Parquet files—data, metadata, and row-group-level structure—right from the terminal. If someone sent me a Parquet file, I used to open DuckDB or Polars just to see what was inside. Now I can do it with one command. Repo: https://github.com/kaushiksrini/parqeye

RATH is an open-source software for data exploration and visualization. It automates your workflow in data analysis. You can give RATH a CSV file and it will generates visualizations with insights and patterns automatically. It also has a data painter tool for more casual interaction with charts (https://youtu.be/djqePNyhz7w). It also has a lot of cool features like autovis, causal discovery, GPT integration, predictive interaction for text feature extraction, etc. Some of RATH’s components are also independent open-source project you might be interested: Like + Graphic Walker…

Not sure if I would post this for the last day of #marchintosh OR wait for tomorrow the 1st of April. Both apply equally. Anyway, here's a pet project of mine, I made it as a glued on for another pet project of mine, but it developed a life of it's own now and can soar skyward toward success, fame, and glory.

Data Painter is RATH's new feature to interact with your data. It helps you to specify complex visual patterns and find explanations and potential causals. It allows you to do on-flight data labeling, cleaning or even create new features does not exited in original dataset. Everything can be done with a brush tool(painter), You can even play with your data with your fingers on mobile. RATH is an open-source alternative to Tableau, but with more automations. Feedbacks and suggestions are appreciated. RATH's Github: https://github.com/Kanaries/Rath RATH's HomePage:…

Hi HN, I'm Hugo. I've been building Rocky over the past month, shipping fast in the open. The binary is on GitHub Releases, `dagster-rocky` on PyPI, and the VS Code extension on the Marketplace. I held off on a broader announcement until the trust-system surface was coherent enough to talk about as one thing. The governance waveplan — column classification, per-env masking, 8-field audit trail on every run, `rocky compliance` rollup, role-graph reconciliation, retention policies — landed end-to-end last week in engine-v1.16.0 and rounded out in v1.17.4 (tagged 2026-04-26). That's the…

This project is a tool for engineers who live in the terminal and are tired of losing their command history to ephemeral servers or fragmented `.bash_history` files. If you’re jumping between dozens of boxes, many of which might be destroyed an hour later, your "local memory" (the history file) is essentially useless. This tool builds a centralized, permanent brain for your shell activity, ensuring that a complex one-liner you crafted months ago remains accessible even if the server it ran on is long gone. The core mechanism wants to be a "zero-touch" capture that happens at the connection…

Hey HN – Stefan and Elijah here from DAGWorks (http://dagworks.io/, YC W23). If you don’t remember us from our previous HN launch (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35056903), we’re the authors of Hamilton (https://github.com/dagworks-inc/hamilton), an open-source library for building self-documenting, modular dataflows in python that works for data, ML, LLM pipelines, & even web-workflows. We’ve been developing this UI for a while and we’re excited to say we open-sourced it! It comes out of the box with the following capabilities, and…

hey guys, wanted to show one of my side projects i just made public. the idea is basically another osint tool for pentesters and bug bounty hunters. it watches certificate transparency logs and checks newly-seen domains for exposed stuff like .env files, open .git dirs, config files, db dumps and so on, and puts whatever it finds into a searchable db. you just search a domain (or part of one) and see what's exposed. it's read-only and free. one thing i've been thinking about adding is a way to register for certain keywords and get notified when something new shows up for that search. would…
