24 alternatives to Rekapu – Learn while procrastinating. Answer flashcard to unblock sites
Hi HN! I built Rekapu to learn Polish after moving from Ukraine to Poland. The problem is - I work remotely for US companies in English, and most people around me speak English or I can use self-service checkouts, so there's basically zero pressure to actually learn. But I wanted to improve. Being honest with myself, I had to acknowledge that with my cooked attention span, relying on willpower or strict schedules just wasn't going to work. The insight: My most consistent habit is procrastinating on HN, Twitter, and news sites. It happens automatically every day, regardless of my mood or…
Rekapu is a browser extension that blocks access to time-wasting websites unless the user answers a flashcard question first. Designed for language learners with limited willpower for traditional study methods, it… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes.

Hi HN, I watch A LOT of educational YouTube videos but wasn't forgetting a good chunk of the details because I was only really passively watching. So I made a tool that generates quiz questions/flashcards from YouTube videos, and uses spaced repetition like Anki or Duolingo to keep it in memory. Let me know if you find it cool/useful (or terrible ) or if you want to know a bit about the details!

remio▲541remio is designed to free you from being a manual data porter for AI. By syncing your full context, it builds a zero-effort Second Brain that understands your work as well as you do. We call this AI knowledge base "remio", because we want to build a local first app to "remember every input and output". As knowledge workers, we are stuck copy-pasting context just to get a decent answer. We spend more time digging through scattered Slack threads, Google Docs, and local files than actually doing the work. So here is what we made: 1. Connect once: It automatically indexes your full context—web…

Hey HN, I am a student shipping apps in my free time. This is my 4th for the year! Non-fic books and podcasts have been part of my life for years now but I always struggled with remembering what I’ve read or listened to. I wanted it to stick even after years. My notes list grew large but I never really revisited them. That’s why I created GinkgoNotes. You can enter notes you want to recall and leave it to the app to create a personalised (based on spaced repetition) email schedule. That means you’ll get your notes emailed to you a couple of times exactly when you should read them again…

When I was getting into web development I used a combination of Anki and git to help me quickly learn and retain skills. Figuring there might be demand for a product that uses the same strategy (without the requirement that you already know Anki and git), I created SkillPress. No account is needed to start learning. I would greatly appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

Here is a tool I built initially for myself to help with my German and Greek language studies. It started as a hack for creating Anki cards from native language audio. It extracts the words, finds their base forms (lemmas) and groups the examples by the lemma. At some point I realised that I have a transcription with word level timestamps that opens a lot of other opportunities. So I added a mode to click the first and last word in the transcript and it starts looping with the right gap and repeat count. Another feature I use a lot is selecting an audio fragment, sending a predefined prompt…

We've had a lot success in classrooms and the field but explaining how RebilderU's accelerated learning process works online has been difficult. While it does require a new way of thinking, the underlying process is incredibly simple and effective. Check it out here: http://www.rebilderu.com/how-guided-mnemonic-learning-works/ If you have any feedback on the explanation or what doesn't make sense we'd really appreciate it.
