Hi HN, I'm Jay and my cofounder and I have been working on RESTfender to help connect and secure IoT devices. Would love to hear feedback. While there are some IoT platforms out there, we're focusing primarily on the problem of botnets and managing devices. We use machine learning to track and automatically categorize bots. I'd like to announce the latest public beta release of Hobson - an open-source IoT platform that promotes ease-of-use and has no cloud dependencies. It is free, multi-platform and supports various devices, services and protocols through a powerful plugin system. To be honest, we're not quite sure what direction to take with the project at the moment and would to hear your feedback. I’ve been working in DevOps and infrastructure for years (currently in the fintech/security space), and as I started playing with AI agents, I noticed a scary pattern. Most "safety" mechanisms rely on system prompts ("Please don't do X") or flimsy Python logic inside the agent itself.
