Products that do what ride-recap, teaching a LLM my taste to automate cycling highlights does
TL;DR: Turn hours of raw GoPro footage + a .fit file into a 60-second highlight reel with ride telemetry burned in. Every second of the ride is scanned by gemini-3.5-flash, as is the clip ranking + curation. The whole thing costs about $0.04 per ride and takes 10 minutes. Longer version: Road cycling has been my primary form of exercise, social outlet, therapy, wardrobe expense, and personality trait for almost a decade. I ride most weekends, usually out of Manhattan and up 9W. By the end of a ride I have hours of GoPro footage and one .fit file with per-second speed, power, heart rate,…

Gemini Embedding 2 can project raw video directly into a 768-dimensional vector space alongside text. No transcription, no frame captioning, no intermediate text. A query like "green car cutting me off" is directly comparable to a 30-second video clip at the vector level. I used this to build a CLI that indexes hours of footage into ChromaDB, then searches it with natural language and auto-trims the matching clip. Demo video on the GitHub README. Indexing costs ~$2.50/hr of footage. Still-frame detection skips idle chunks, so security camera / sentry mode footage is much cheaper.

Each moving arrow represents one real bike ride out of 291 million, and if you've ever taken a Citi Bike before, you are included in this massive visualization! You can search for your ride using Cmd + K and your Citi Bike receipt, which should give you the time of your ride and start/end station. Everything is open source: https://github.com/freemanjiang/bikemap Some technical details: - No backend! Hey HN, this is Lina, Andrew, and Sidney from Lemon Slice. We’ve trained a custom diffusion transformer (DiT) model that achieves video streaming at 25fps and wrapped it into a demo that allows anyone to turn a photo into a real-time, talking avatar. Here’s an example conversation from co-founder Andrew: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeYp5xQMFZY. Try it for yourself at: https://lemonslice.com/live. (Btw, we used to be called Infinity AI and did a Show HN under that name last year: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41467704.) Unlike existing…

I've been working on this Claude Code pipeline for making 10-minute movies, gluing together Seedance (videogen), Nano Banana (image gen), and ElevenLabs (voice gen), and using Claude as the director. My repo contributes a markdown playbook and a worked example which should make it easier for other people to make their own short movies. A first-pass movie takes around 2.5 hours of wall clock time and costs around $200, and iterating is easy thanks to intermediate artifacts like storyboards and voice samples.

I built a free iOS app so cyclists can stop paying $20/mo just to retest their FTP. The ramp test itself is a 25-minute Bluetooth interaction with a known protocol. It shouldn't require rent. This app is opensource, free, no ads, no tracking nor third party integrations because I just wanted to have a fun side project and have no interest in monetization. If you are a cyclist, I would kindly ask for feedback on the app especially on the ftp test protocol instructions, trainer-model compatibility, and bug reports App store link:…

I'm a video editor, but not very professional. I mostly edit speech and podcast videos to highlight interesting parts and make short clips. I've found that the most time-consuming task is finding interesting segments in a full-length video. It usually takes me 2-3 hours of continuous listening just to find the 'timestamps' where the interesting points start and end. I'm referring to source videos that are 30 min to 1 hour long. Nowadays, getting transcriptions for videos is easy with AI. So, why not use that to find segments? Reading through a transcription is much quicker and easier than…
