Hello Hacker News! My name is Anonyo, and I am a seventeen-year-old from Southeast Michigan. This is wallstreetlocal, my passion project for the last year (and a half). I've posted this before, but I've finally open-sourced this entire project, so I thought I'd post it again. Heres the short pitch. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) keeps record of every company in the United States. Companies whose holdings surpass $100 million though, are required to file a special type of form: the 13F form. This form, filed quarterly, discloses the filer's holdings, providing transparency into…

Hello, In addition to my studies in computer science, I have been working on a side project. I obtain data from the Unternehmensregister, a register where every German limited company is required to publish their financial statements. These statements are published as HTML files and are completely unstructured. While financial statements often look similar, companies are not required to follow a specific structure, which often leads to inconsistently formatted statements. The use of the Unternehmensregister is completely free, so you can check out some examples. I wrote code that converts…

Hi, I'm Ritinkar and I'm building metadocs, which is kind of like reddit built into every documentation ever. It's a chrome extension that allows discussion on any webpage to happen there itself. Currently I have built threaded comments, and a upvote/downvote system. Plus I've built this cool feature called Highlights, which lets you discuss specific lines in any documentation. As well as a feature called Top Hightlights, which shows the most interesting hightlights on any webpage. Hope you guys will try it out. And if you have any questions, feel free to ask me here. Thanks.

Congressional trading data is relatively commoditized, but I couldn't find any open-source version with the features I wanted. The data is lagged (median 28 days from trade to disclosure, and 19% miss this deadline), but there's still interesting patterns to explore. Repo: https://github.com/kadoa-org/congress-trading-monitor Let me know if you have any suggestions for improvements!

I work with AI tools often and I find myself constantly swapping between file types to navigate different sites and use cases. I built anydoc — I imagined a universal document format drive layer that would allow me to essentially have a file that is many different file types at once. CSV for organizing, markdown for feeding into LLMs, HTML for fast sharing... so here it is and I am working on making it better all of the time. Just shipped an update that makes the most relevant format types available faster on a document upload @boshjerns on X

Felt annoyed with Google Docs' "suggestions", and built an alternative that has git-style branch & merge for better collaboration. We're implementing OT via full-stack Clojure/Script, which was incredibly useful for code-reuse across client and server.

I've been exploring uses of file metadata. Here's an interesting one with a legitimate (and potentially unreliable) use case. Focuses on ease of use. Would love to hear feedback.
