Products that do what Romulist - Monthly Reminders for Forgetful People does

Made this little reminder app for my girlfriend after she forgot a car payment. You give it a list of events, the days-of-the-month they're due, and the number of days you'd like to be notified in advance. Every day, it goes through the list, checks each to see if you haven't done it yet for the month and if the current day is w/in the window you specified. If true to both, you get an email. If you don't mark the event as done, it rolls over to the next day, so it won't forget even when you do. I realize this is "just another calendar app," but I think that pestering/nagging feature is…

Hey HN, after the app I actually used to track my period wanted me to log in and save my data in the cloud, I decided to write my own. Most apps in this area are based on a subscription model and display far too much information anyway. For me, a simple calendar is enough where I can add a few notes if necessary. So that is the result of my work - a simple design and the data is only saved on the smartphone.

I built this app primarily for my wife, who has tried many mainstream todo-list apps (OmniFocus, Things, and Todoist come to mind) over the years with little success. She isn't particularly interested in setting up a productivity system and the administrivia that goes with it. Even having to remember to look at an app once a day was far from ideal for her. This app is an attempt at a solution for anyone that fits this description, with a focus on alerting over organization. Here's how it works: you create a nudge that's set to trigger at a given date and time, and the app phones you, texts…

I bought the birthdays.app domain a few years ago and decided to build a simple birthday app, just text message reminders. I had hacked together a duct-tape version for myself a couple years prior (using zapier + google sheets), and found it useful. It was a pain sifting through Facebook birthdays (90% irrelevant), and I found the text reminders simpler than a calendar. The app has been slowly growing since 2023, and is now up to 739 paying users (mostly on the $9/yr plan, with a few paying $3/yr). Earlier this year, I built a Google Calendar integration to automatically sync…

Hello. I was looking for a simple and clean habit tracker. I went through a few apps but felt they were missing something. I also had some time on my hands, so decided to make my own and share it in case anyone else likes it. Some of the supported features: Streaks based, track and beat your longest streaks Fully useable offline Freezes (similar to Duolingo's streak freezes) Visual map for tracking consistency Pause the app when you need a break or will be away For anyone curious about the tech stack: - React for frontend - Dexie cloud for storage and syncing - Vercel for hosting Link:…

Bookmarks which you wanted to read, but simply forgot... It happened to me all the time. I bookmarked the articles to read later and simply forgot about them. Forever. I built Mailist to help with that. Already 2350 users enjoy their "weekly digests" composed from their bookmarks. It makes me super happy! So now, https://mailist.app Pro account allows you to send an email newsletter every day, built from your bookmarks. Does it sound interesting? The free version (weekly email) is available for everyone! Let me know what you think. PS. Unlike other tools, we care about your privacy…

I've been working on a side project called Streak.ly with a friend of mine for the past month or so; it's intended to help keep you motivated to do otherwise mundane daily tasks (like do 10 pushups, read for an hour, etc.) by letting you log "streaks" — consecutive days in a row of doing something. It's in private alpha/beta/gamma/whatever right now (has some rough edges to clean up), but is more or less functionally complete and pretty stable. I'm a big fan of the Seinfeld calendar, and have seen other services which do similar things but were unsatisfying to use, either from an aesthetic…

Hi Fellow Hackers! I'm happy to share with you KittyCal, an installable calendar web app I made over the past two months. Existing calendar apps often focus on scheduling and require many steps to create one event. KittyCal, on the other hand, removes hourly scheduling and keeps everything on one screen. How does it work? Just enter your email address, and we will send you a pair of calendar links (blue and red). There is no login process, click the magic link or scan the QR code to access your calendar. You can then add the page to home screen and use it like a native app. Last year, I…

Problem: You have a million things going on and stuff slips. Passport renewal, car registration, kid's doc appt, why you started going to the gym in the first place. You text yourself reminders on the go or dump it in your notes app and never look again. Solution: Faro. Text it what you need to do, and every morning it texts you the list of what's still open. Why it works: 1. It texts you every morning. Not a one-time notification, not a note you never open. Stays top of mind. 2. Done with something? Just tell it. No editing notes, no re-texting yourself a new list. 3. Zero friction. No…
