I tried some web tools to track my workouts (specifically, running); some (like FitTrackee) came close, but I always found annoyances. So I decided to build my own. Specifically geared towards distance-based workouts, such as walking, running or cycling.

Hey HN! I recently open-sourced a project that I came up with in the late 2022 and have been working on and off since. It's taken around a year or so of active development in total. My problem with habit-trackers is that they're all the same. All of them basically allow to track only one thing - X times per 1 day. That's very rigid and goes against my instinct to ease into new things. I wanted something that's flexible, self-sustainable, and wouldn't require a lot of maintenance. After a bit of tinkering I came up with something novel - adjustable habit frequencies. And made all the custom…

Hi, I have created tool (https://www.helprange.com) to record usage of your PDF documents to display heat maps of this usage consisting of exact clicks and position of mouse inside the document. It works as follows: 1. You are uploading your PDF Document 2. You are getting a secure link to your document 3. You share this link with some group of people 4. Hi, I’ve been working on a workout logging mobile app and game to motivate myself to workout called Fittest Fire. Logging workouts in the mobile app gives you points which are used in the game to increase damage, health, speed, etc. The mobile apps are native Kotlin / Swift and have been released. The game is currently in demo status but has the level up system in place. You can easily skip the account creation process for the mobile apps and play around with it first. In that case, you can only save exercises locally. If you have an account, you can save exercises online and get…

I've been building this for a few years under the name "Statistics for Strava" but I renamed it to Dreeve recently because of Strava's recently changed API usage terms. They paywalled their API. You point it at your activity files (FIT/TCX/GPX) or connect a Strava account, and it gives you a dashboard with segment efforts, gear and maintenance tracking, a heatmap, monthly calendar view, milestones and a year-in-review. It runs as a Docker container, stores everything in SQLite, and nothing leaves your machine. Stack is PHP 8.5 + Symfony, SQLite, Docker Compose. Simple,…
