Good to be back on HN with all-new CoScreen, a little more than 3 years after it launched over here! With CoScreen 5.0, you can now share your windows from multiple displays at the same time, a long standing request by our most avid users and impossible in other apps. It also has a lightning-fast, Rust-based window compositing, scaling, and streaming engine now. CoScreen was always meant to be different so that you and your team can share your screens simultaneously and multi-directionally, and to be able to control what is being shared. We saw it as a natural extension and closely coupled…

I built a GitHub repository template which automates the process of configuring a new repository to take web page screenshots using GitHub Actions. You can try this out at https://github.com/simonw/shot-scraper-template Use the https://github.com/simonw/shot-scraper-template/generate interface to create a new repository using that template, and paste the URL that you want to take screenshots of in as the "description" field. The new repository will then configure itself using GitHub Actions, take the screenshot and save it back to the repo!

I’ve been experimenting with Rust lately and wanted a project that would help me explore some of its lower-level and performance-oriented features. Inspired by Sebastian Lague’s videos, I decided to implement my own ray tracer from scratch. The initial goal was just to render a simple 3D scene in the browser at a reasonable frame rate. It evolved into a small renderer that can: • Run locally or on the web using wgpu and WebAssembly • Perform mesh rendering with a Bounding Volume Hierarchy (BVH) for acceleration • Simulate both direct and indirect illumination for photorealistic results • Be…

Seeing all the hype around Bolt.new, I decided to give it a try, and within just 30 minutes, I built a fully functional web app for screen sharing. How It Works: - One user opens a room and receives a unique code. - Participants join by simply entering the code to view the shared screen. After that initial build, I moved the project to Cursor to continue iterating and enhancing its features. Hello HN, I've always found Screen Studio recordings superb. Unfortunately I'm not on a Mac, so I've developed my own tool that works in the browser for all OS. I hope you'll find it useful, and I'd be delighted to hear your feedback.
