Hey, I think I did this the wrong way round last time. I hope I'm doing it right this time. This is the latest incarnation of the app, http://said.fm/. A lot of people love listening to talk programmes but don't have the time or bandwidth to look for them and just want a trusted suggestion. They also seem to like listening to stuff mostly on the go or while performing some mundane task. With this release, we tried to solve both those 2 problems. We still have a way to go with introducing a proper mobile app but a lot of people still use their iPods and we tried not to exclude them. Finally,…

Hello everyone! As someone who's constantly on the look for new music to discover and being very deliberate about the things I'm listening, I needed a better way to organize the albums I want to listen to, listened and liked. And also I would like to see the discoveries of other folks who I know I like. So I started creating the tool I wish I had in the first place. In Digs, the basic idea is that: - you can add music releases (albums, EPs, singles, mixes) in three lists: Want to Listen, Listened, Digged. You can also use tags and notes to better organize these lists. - you get a public…

I worked on early podcast software in 2004 (iPodder/Juice) and have been a heavy podcast consumer ever since. I wanted a podcast app that respects your privacy and embraces the open web—and to explore what's possible in the browser. The result is wherever.audio, which you can try right now at the link above. How it works: It's a progressive web app that stores all your subscriptions and data locally in your browser using IndexedDB. Add it to your home screen and it feels native. Works offline with downloaded episodes. No central server storing your data—just some Cloudflare/AWS…

idle.fm is an app that looks at the music you have "liked" on Facebook, then builds a playlist on Spotify based on recommendations. I built it in the few hours I have free during the last couple of weeks. There's still a few rough edges (it's quite slow at the mo) but I thought I'd show you guys. It should work on iphones, although there aren't tailored views yet. Do you think it's worth me continuing development? Suggestions, problems? Disclaimer: it posts to your profile when you create a playlist. http://idle.fm

I love music and I'm always trying to discover new music that I can enjoy. In the past years I was using a fairly tedious process of organizing the music albums (or DJ sets, radio shows) in a few lists: - Want to Listen - Listened - Listened (and liked) I wanted to keep track of these lists, what I discovered each month/year and share all this activity and lists with my friends. For that, I was using a combination of tools that weren't made exactly for this job (Discogs+Spotify+IM apps), resulting in a cumbersome experience. So a few months ago I started this hobby project, with the…

So I'm this guy: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2318859 That was great. Then this happened: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2463593 Honestly, I was kind of expecting that sooner or later. So I hunkered down and produced the next generation of "Killer Apps", a new app called "Eureka," which also allows you to find music and movies: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/eureka-music-movies-apps/id448766791?mt=8 It is semi-beta, and I would very much appreciate feedback from the HN community. Please keep it constructive, but don't pull any punches! Thanks, Joe
