Hello Hacker News community, Wanted to share a project I started working on during my spare time and was then discovered by many in the open source community last week. GPT Engineer’s mission: Be the open platform for devs to tinker with and build their personal code-generation toolbox. I believe it's key for us devs to engage in how building software can and will change. You can find more info about the flexible technical "philosophy" to make it work well, and the community we want it to become on github: https://github.com/AntonOsika/gpt-engineer The project is still in…

I built this because Cursor, Claude Code and other agentic AI tools kept giving me tests that looked fine but failed when I ran them. Or worse - I'd ask the agent to run them and it would start looping: fix tests, those fail, then it starts "fixing" my code so tests pass, or just deletes assertions so they "pass". Out of that frustration I built KeelTest - a VS Code extension that generates pytest tests and executes them, got hooked and decided to push this project forward... When tests fail, it tries to figure out why: - Generation error: Attemps to fix it automatically, then tries again -…

One of the coolest things I've been able to get GPT-3 to do is generate questions based on a piece of text. So, I built a simple site to help others do the same. Hopefully, this can be useful to teachers, trainers, or just anyone who wants to create a fun and unique quiz.

I've long had a dislike for leetcode interviews on both sides of the coin. Project-based interviews can also be challenging because it can end up filtering out folks who don't want to spend several hours building something in their free time. I met up with a friend last year -- a very senior dev -- who had taken some time off to study leetcode exercises while preparing for FAANG interviews. It struck me that one of the key measures of whether a candidate is a fit for a team is rather synthetic. CodeRev.app is a simple, lightweight tool that helps teams evaluate candidates using code reviews.…

As you solve LeetCode questions, you can mark them as hard, medium, or easy. The tool will then recommend questions you should review based on (1) how hard the question was for you and (2) how much time has passed since you last reviewed it. I'd recommend normally attempting LeetCode problems and just marking them as hard, medium, or easy for you at first so the tool knows which problems to recommend you review! Hey HN, QA GPT enables engineers and QA teams to write UI and functionality tests in plain english. As engineers, we sometimes get a little lazy when it comes to testing the functionality of our changes. It's hard to switch from coder hat to user hat. However, a single bug can significantly impact users experience and satisfaction. Errors found in production aren't just a nuisance; they're costly. The later a bug is discovered, the more expensive it becomes to fix. I built QA GPT as a proof of concept to make writing UI/functionality tests really easy. It's super simple - just write…
