I am excited to announce a new tool for music producers and audio enthusiasts - a music audio search engine. With just a simple description of the groove you're looking for, our semantic search engine will output the most similar audio in seconds. I used the Freesound.org API to upload over 3,000 grooves to MongoDB, and combined all the relevant data such as tags, title, description, BPM, etc. into OpenAI's Text-Davinci to generate a unique description of each sound. I built this because most Pomodoro timers felt too sterile. I wanted something that actually pulls you in with rain, brown noise, soft ASMR, and a few Middle Eastern tracks. Added animated backgrounds so it’s not just a blank screen. Runs fully in your browser. No accounts, no tracking, just open it and focus. I wanted to listen to music with friends who live far away. Not "watch a YouTube video together" - actually share what I'm hearing in real-time, like we're in the same room. There are lots of ambient sound apps on the App Store, but they all seem to be paywalled. I thought I should make one where all the content was free. I bought a secondhand professional audio recorder, then took it to national parks in Australia and Germany, in case I heard anything interesting. It was a bit of a learning experience, but I now have a library of half a dozen passable recordings.
