Last month, we open-sourced Infisical (https://github.com/Infisical/infisical) - a simple, end-to-end encrypted tool to sync environment variables across your team and infrastructure. You can use it to store environment variables and inject them into your applications locally or into CI/CD and production infrastructure. It can be used with any language/framework and is platform independent with a super easy setup. We know secret managers exist but, in our experience, they’re too complicated, not comprehensive, not user-friendly, or a mix of all three — other…

Finally open sourced an internal tool we've been using for managing secrets. It's similar to SOPS, but more opinionated, easier to configure/use correctly, and produces nicer git diffs. It also supports one-way encryption, so you don't have to know the private key to add secrets.

Hey HN, I'm Brandon, a solo dev, and I built KubeForge - a visual editor for Kubernetes deployments that helps you build and validate YAML configs. Origin Story: Over the past couple weeks, I got fed up manually writing Kubernetes YAMLs, especially when working with nested structures like containers, env, and volumeMounts. Even small typos or misaligned fields added lost time to broken deploys. So I started hacking together a tool to visualize the structure of Kubernetes objects based on the OpenAPI schema. That prototype quickly turned into a full manifest builder. What KubeForge does: -…

Hi HN! I’m excited to share Holos, a Go command line tool we wrote to fill the configuration management gap in Kubernetes. Holos uses CUE to configure software distributed with Helm and Kustomize using a well defined, type safe language eliminating the need to template YAML. You probably know (or are) someone who has suffered with the complexity of plain text YAML templates and merging multiple values.yaml files together to configure software running in Kubernetes. We built Holos so we don’t have to template YAML but we can still integrate software distributed with Helm and Kustomize…

Hi Everyone! Kubetail is a new project I've been working on. It's a private, real-time log viewer for Kubernetes clusters. You deploy it inside your cluster and access it via a web browser, like the Kubernetes Dashboard. Using kubetail, you can view logs in real-time from multiple Workload containers simultaneously. For example, you can view all the logs from the Pod containers running in a Deployment and the UI will update automatically as the pods come into and out of existence. Kubetail uses your in-cluster Kubernetes API so your logs are always in your possession and it's private by…
