Hello HN, My girlfriend and I waste too much energy to decide what to eat. Every day, we would text each other, "what do we eat tonight" messages, and go over options and many times spend too much time on deciding. I am an indie dev and created this app to solve my own problem: decide with my girlfriend what to eat for dinner. Initially, I created a simple app, in which we listed all the recipes we ever prepared, and it would propose randomly three of them. We would then choose together one of them. This app[0] turned into a tinder-like app, which would propose every day a set of recipes to…

I recently launched my first web app, polls.io. It's a super simple polling app that doesn't require sign-up. In my opinion, this is the most simple/social polling app out there. There are certainly many similar apps out there, but I think this one stands out as it straight-forward and doesn't have any unnecessary "mess" getting in the way of the actual poll. From idea to inception this took about a week. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. We'll be listening to feedback in the coming days/weeks in order to make the proper changes. I'd love to hear your guys' thoughts and feedback!…

This is a web app for quickly settling on where to eat as a group. (Feel free to critique the landing page.) Unique features compared to other polling apps: - No sign-up step. - Enhanced Approval Voting: veto/ok/prefer. You may vote for multiple restaurant options. - Real-time ballot updates so new candidates can be seen and voted on immediately. - Ties are always broken randomly. - Implemented with HTMx + hyperscript + jinja, enabling SSR and HATEOAS. If you want to test the functionality by yourself, you can start a ballot, then copy the join link and open it in a different…

Hi HN! Creator here. I built this because I noticed teams often need to quickly prioritize or rank items, but existing tools add too much friction to the process. This uses the Borda count algorithm to aggregate everyone's preferences into a single ranking. While simple voting works for yes/no decisions, sorting captures more nuanced preferences and helps find consensus, whether you're prioritizing feature requests or deciding where to grab lunch. The tool is completely frictionless - no signup required, and polls automatically expire after 24 hours to keep things clean. All data is…

I recently built an iOS app called Settld: Group Restaurant Finder that helps friends decide where to meet by finding restaurants that are roughly equally far from everyone’s location, and displaying information about them. We’ve all been in chaotic group chats where no one can agree on where to eat — this app cuts through that by calculating a “sweet spot” for the group. For 2 people, it’s the midpoint. For 3 people, it’s the circumcenter. For 4–6 people, it uses a minimum enclosing circle approach (Welzl’s algorithm). It then shows the top 15 nearby options so there’s no more “where do we…
