Hey HN! We’re Jorge and Will from Lotas (https://www.lotas.ai/), and we’ve built Erdos, a secure AI-powered data science IDE that’s fully open source (https://www.lotas.ai/erdos). A few months ago, we shared Rao, an AI coding assistant for RStudio (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44638510). We built Rao to bring the Cursor-like experience to RStudio users. Now we want to take the next step and deliver a tool for the entire data science community that handles Python, R, SQL, and Julia workflows. Erdos is a fork of VS Code designed for data…

ChunkHound’s goal is simple: local-first codebase intelligence that helps you pull deep, core-dev-level insights on demand, generate always-up-to-date docs, and scale from small repos to enterprise monorepos — while staying free + open source and provider-agnostic (VoyageAI / OpenAI / Qwen3, Anthropic / OpenAI / Gemini / Grok, and more). I’d love your feedback — and if you have, thank you for being part of the journey!

Hi! We are excited to announce the second release of Desbordante — an open-source, high-performance data profiler that is capable of discovering and validating many different patterns in data using various algorithms. Unlike existing data profilers, Desbordante focuses on discovering complex patterns in data, which are notoriously hard to extract. Since its inception in 2019, it has become the fastest open-source tool for these tasks. It also offers an array of patterns which have no alternative implementations. With this release, Desbordante now supports 17 types of patterns, such as:…

Autoregressive language models such as GPT and LLaMA have a tendency to hallucinate when asked about out-of-domain questions. An easy way to minimize these hallucinations is to supply LLMs with external sources of domain-specific data using a vector database. To this end, we built OSSChat, a GPT- and Zilliz-powered project that you can use to ask questions about, summarize, and analyze open source projects by indexing the documentation and automatically searching for relevant documents when asking a question (these documents are then injected into the LLM as prompt). While we decided to…

We’ve just open-sourced SemHash, a lightweight package for semantic text deduplication. It lets you effortlessly clean up your datasets and avoid pitfalls caused by duplicate samples in semantic search, RAG, and machine learning. Main Features: - Fast and hardware friendly: Deduplicate datasets with millions of records in minutes, on a CPU. - Flexible: Works on single or multiple datasets (e.g., train/test deduplication), and multi-column data (e.g., Question-Answering datasets). - Lightweight: Minimal dependencies (largest is NumPy). - Explainable: Easily inspect duplicates and what…

Docs.codes generates simple markdowns for open-source libraries that you can add to the context of your LLM assistants, helping them generate better code. Here's a quick walkthrough with pypi/mem0ai as example: https://youtu.be/SKZol8G_tIE LLMs struggle with generating correct code when using lesser-known libraries or dealing with major version changes that happen after their training cutoff. With these markdowns, you can ensure that your LLM chat/coding assistants have up-to-date knowledge of the library's API and usage patterns. We built this using the latest…

Google Zanzibar datalog lang lets you describe concepts and express how they are related. I generalize it to DSL you can use on Lean4 (and other languages) this lets you represent a knowledge base you can construct, store and evaluate, have it under git and improve without big engines or relaying on external infrastructure.
