Hi HN community, I’m Zach, founder and CEO of Warp, and am excited to show you Warp, a fast Rust-based terminal that’s easy to use and built for teams. As of today, Warp is in public beta and any Mac user can download it. It works with bash, zsh, and fish. The terminal’s teletype-like interface has made it hard for the CLI to thrive. After 20 years of programming, I still find it hard to copy a command’s output; I always forget how to use `tar`; and I always have to relearn how to move my cursor. To fix fundamental accessibility issues, I believe we need to start innovating on the terminal,…

Made this to use my laptop terminal session on mobile without data going through a server. tt start -p mypassword → get a URL (qrcode) → open in browser → enter password → connected. Direct webrtc datachannel between your machine and browser. Signaling server is a cloudflare worker, exchanges ~2KB of sdp/ice metadata then gets out of the way. Password never transmitted - argon2id derives 256-bit key locally on both ends. All terminal i/o gets nacl secretbox encryption before hitting the datachannel. double encrypted with dtls underneath but I wanted the relay to see nothing useful…

Perhaps the easiest way to get a shell on your remote devices wherever they are (even behind NATs and firewalls) -- no VPN required. Offers file transfer right from the terminal itself. Because it is web-based and connects via WebRTC it is better than VPN + SSH in every way: - no setup required on the client machine, it hence works on all OSs and even your phone, - it will always find the shortest-path to your robots, meaning it won’t go through the cloud if you are on the same network as your robot - still end-to-end encrypted - file upload via drag & drop - file download by clicking on…

ttyd is a simple command-line tool for sharing terminal over the web. Use case: doing a demo, mostly presenting from a browser, and need a terminal window to demonstrate something? Open one directly in a browser tab via ttyd so that you don't need to share your entire desktop.

Hi HN! I just released version 1.0 of Posting, an open source terminal application I've been working on which you might find useful if you work with, test, or develop HTTP APIs! Posting (https://github.com/darrenburns/posting) is an HTTP client, not unlike Postman and Insomnia. However, as a TUI application, it works over SSH and enables efficient keyboard-centric workflows. Your requests are stored locally in simple readable YAML files, meaning they're easy to read and version control. Some other features include: - "Jump mode" navigation - Environments/variables…

Hi everybody, I’m Roman from Termius (YC W19, HN launch https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=20118727). I want to share news about a new exciting feature that we wanted to build for a long time. It’s Terminal Sharing. Terminal Sharing enables engineers to get instant help from their colleagues by providing a link to their terminal output updated in real-time. There is also a mode where the viewer can enter commands from their end. When I was getting into programming, some of my biggest problems were: compilation errors or not being able to set up something on a Linux server.…
