24 alternatives to Simple Alternative to Complex Project Management for Freelancers
We're really happy to share EnkiTask.com with everyone — it's a simple and affordable project management tool we built as an alternative to the overly complicated options out there. Whether you’re managing a small team or juggling dynamic projects, EnkiTask is all about keeping things straightforward and easy to use. The reason we decided to build EnkiTask.com was pretty simple: after trying a bunch of popular project management tools like Trello, Asana, and Jira, none of them really hit the mark for us. Some, like Trello, came close, but they still had drawbacks. Most of the others were…

Hey HN, Over the past two years, I've been building Upbase, an all-in-one PM tool. I've tried so many project management tools over the years (Trello, Asana, ClickUp, Teamwork, Wrike, Monday, etc.) but they've all fallen short. Most of them are overly complicated and painful to use. Some others, like Trello, are too limited for my needs. Most importantly, most of these tools tend to be focused on team collaboration and completely ignore personal productivity. They are useful for organizing my work, but not great at helping me stay focused to get things done. That's why I decided to build…

TL;DR: We built Kanbanq, a minimal task management app for indies and small teams. It keeps Trello’s simplicity but adds proper backlogs, sprints, real-time collaboration and public board sharing. Free while in alpha, feedback welcome --- I’ve been working on Kanbanq with a friend. It’s a minimal task management app we built after getting frustrated with Trello. It was great for simple boards, but it falls apart when you need backlogs (that are more than just a giant list) or want to work in sprints. Kanbanq keeps the same clean feel but adds backlog management (our unique feature), sprints,…

I work for government agency with a lot of security considerations. We can't install anything and using public webapps is out of the question. Going through clearance or procurement to buy or install something is a pain. I needed a project management tool, and what we had on offer was too clunky and old. I built SimpleGantt to be ultra lightweight and portable. It's one HTML, one Javascript and one CSS file. Each project is saved into a single .yaml file. If you have a SharePoint environment you can "host" it by uploading the repo to SharePoint after renaming simplegantt.html to…
