24 alternatives to Simple Trust Portal
Hi everybody, I was trying to find a very simple trust portal for my own company. All I wanted was a clean page where I could share security documents like SOC 2 and pen test reports with prospects. Nothing fancy. Everything I found was either a huge trust center platform or something that looked free at first but then had some surprise limits hidden in the fine print. After you hit some random download cap you suddenly have to pay thousands of dollars to continue using it. It felt like every product was built for big companies with big budgets. So I ended up writing my own tiny trust…

Several years ago, I had a client whose salespeople were using Excel to generate sales proposals. This was inefficient and the resulting documents looked awful, so I developed a new process for them using a no-code platform. It featured a web form that was tied to a workflow engine, and a fancy PDF got emailed to the customer to sign. When the client loved the solution, I knew I was on to something. However, the no-code platform wasn't very customizable, so I decided to rebuild the process as a SaaS product. The client's CTO wanted in and we became cofounders. Today, we passed the…

Portal▲181Hey HN, I'm Zach, founder of Portal. Portal lets you share a live sandbox browser session as a link. Try it here: https://www.makeportals.com/try Instead of asking someone to sign up, install software, or book a demo for user research, onboarding, or sales, you send a link and they interact with the real product in a sandboxed browser environment, then you get session replays. Each viewer gets a fresh remote browser instance that starts from a defined state (URL, cookies, extensions, local files, etc). Sessions are isolated and expire automatically. The sessions have…

Hey HN, I’ve been helping small SaaS teams get through SOC 2 / ISO 27001. Every “policy builder” I tried (10+ of them) spat out generic stuff that auditors basically shrugged at (same as if you asked ChatGPT). So I ended up building my own tool. Nothing magical — just a lot of research, plus layering in the right context (implementation controls, company specifics, testing conditions, etc.). The outcome: three companies I worked with recently passed SOC 2 Type 2, and the auditors actually called out the policies as well-structured and clear. You can also try and generate any policies in…

Hi HN, I’m Daniel. I built Trust Vault. It’s a desktop open source app for protecting sensitive files using passwords, 256-bit master tokens, Shamir’s Secret Sharing, and HMAC integrity verification. We also built an Obsidian plugin. I’d appreciate feedback on the security model, UX, and potential use cases.

Hey HN, v0 of a small experiment: a script that counts your page views (done so many times) but exposes them on a public URL so traffic becomes third‑party and linkable instead of “here’s a screenshot of my analytics”. Adding trust & shareable I’m curious if this is actually useful for you: For blogs/directories/communities that sell “exposure”, would public verified views help you prove you send traffic? For projects, would you use a simple public stats page in launch posts, open‑startup pages, or as a trust badge? What must be on that page (just views, growth chart, referrers?),…

Hello HNers. I'm launching my new service, Certician, and I'd love some feedback from HN users. A while back, I asked if anyone knew of any good, simple tools or services for monitoring SSL certificates [1]. I didn't find any compelling services, so I decided to build one. I tried to keep it simple, since it's self-run and bootstrapped. I know my landing page needs help. It's a lot harder to distill down a service (even a simple one) into compelling, actionable copy than I thought! I have to work at my real job today, so I'll only be able to reply when I have time to take a break for a…

Getting a SOC 2 quote usually involves signing NDAs and jumping on multiple sales calls just to get a ballpark figure. I thought that was broken, so I built a calculator based on real market data to make pricing transparent.

Been building an x402 gate way for my local business site builder. I want to experiment with x402 more for deliverables outside of the "typical" things (e.g.: simple api calls etc.) as I believe the potential is actually a lot bigger than that. I think it can be used for "bigger" agentic deliverables, e.g.: with this you get a full pipeline (llm research, google places search, image analysis, brand guidemap etc. which than gets molded into a one pager). Changes the game from "cheap api calls" to bigger deliverables. Feel free to play around with it and let me know what you think!
