I'm a software developer with 20+ years of experience but during this time I never programmed any games, but I really wanted to for the longest time. With the advent of AI coding agents I thought that this is the best time to try and so I've learned a bit of Phaser.js (a Javascript based game engine) and entered Beginner's Jam Summer 2025 - a game jam for beginners in the game dev industry that allows AI coding. After around 25-30 hours (working mainly after my full-time day job) I managed to submit the game I called "Tower of Time" (the theme of the jam was "Time Travel"). You can play it…

Hi HN! I'm working on an open-world multiplayer space sim with submarine-warfare-inspired combat. Crew a ship, haul cargo, run heists, hunt your foes with passive and active sensors. Browser-based, free, no install. Some of its features: - Submarine-style passive sensors. Contacts start as a bearing line (direction, no distance), resolve into an uncertainty circle, then into a full track. You triangulate over time by moving. - Silent running. Cut your emissions and witnesses can't ID you. - Newtonian flight. No drag, no auto-brake. Flip 180° and burn to stop. - Boarding combat. Dock with…

Idea: How about a 5 minute game I can play in my browser and it's actually fun to play. Controls: Mouse or keyboard (left/right, left alt/right alt or A/D), space and esc are pause toggle. Page up / Page Down are next or previous level (if already unlocked). Cheats: Z toggles zapper, M toggles magnets. Debug stuff: I, P, E keys are toggles for various stuff (E lets you change some aspects of physics engine). Game is maybe playable on mobile devices, there is a menu on top right, and then click the circle to select type of control. Physical engine is decoupled from refresh…

Hi everyone, I just saw a vibe coded game on HN, and thought maybe I should post about this here. I'm organizing a vibe coding game dev competition called Vibe Jam. Last year we did it too and there was 1000+ games submitted. This year the deadline is May 1 and you can submit your games until then. There's $35,000 in prizes with the Gold prize being $20,000. Let me know what you think! -Pieter

Last side standing. Every player defends one wall. Miss twice and your side shatters — the arena closes the gap. The dead sabotage the living.
