Hi HN, Trogon is a project to generate a TUI for command line apps. It presents the arguments, options, and switches as a form. Editing the form generates a command line, which you can then run with a keypress. I'm a lover of the command line. But I can recall only a fraction of the switches for most commands I use. I would love it if there was a TUI available for most commands. Trogon currently works with Python and the Click library, but I would like it to cover more of the Python ecosystem and also generate TUIs for apps not written in Python. More information in the repository. Let me…

Author here. I made this little TUI program for managing default applications on the Linux desktop. Maybe some of you will find it useful. Happy to answer any questions.

I’ve been messing around with Bluesky for a while, and one thing I really missed was a proper way to browse discussions in a structured, Reddit-like way specially myself being daily reddit user. So, I ended up building a Reddit-like client for Bluesky that scratches that itch: Threadsky.app It pulls in trending topics, lets you explore conversations with a threaded view (so no more getting lost in replies), and even allows users to create channels with customizations, basically, like subreddits but on Bluesky. That said, this is still pretty barebones, and there’s a lot to improve. I really…

Hi there, This is just a shameless self-plug about a personal project of mine: "Using mpv and mpvc to play and manage the stuff I listen." To that end I've forked the great https://github.com/lwilletts/mpvc and started hacking around, so far I've focused on: getting a minimal TUI working, improving the CLI, playing online music (eg. youtube and other streaming services), and bugfixes (including the introducing new ones). The project is mainly developed, and, used under Debian/Ubuntu systems so expect the best results with these. What I expect from sharing in HN is: -…

Hi HN, my name's Clifford and I'm one of the creators of Nori. I’ve been using Claude Code heavily since last summer, and after understanding some of the tradeoffs with their TUI implementation, I knew I couldn't see myself living for years with this interface as one of my daily-driver tools. It is not a hard problem to make monospace text output performant, so why does Claude Code suffer from flicker and strobing in the terminal (https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/1913)? Even after they've released multiple improvements for this, I still see the…

i always loved looking up the On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences (OEIS) when researching a sequence of numbers. so I decided to make a TUI and CLI for it so that I can browse sequences in the terminal. it supports almost all the features on the site (including the OEIS Webcam) and supports graphs, a preview pane, exporting and bookmarks. more features here: https://github.com/hako/oeis-tui?tab=readme-ov-file#features repo: https://github.com/hako/oeis-tui gitHub releases: https://github.com/hako/oeis-tui/releases cargo:…

I've been building go-tui (https://go-tui.dev), a terminal UI framework for Go inspired by the templ framework for the web (https://templ.guide/). The syntax should be familiar to templ users and is quite different from other terminal frameworks like bubbletea. Instead of imperative widget manipulation or bubbletea's elm architecture, you write HTML-like syntax and Tailwind-style classes that can intermingle with regular Go code in a new .gsx filetype. Then you compile these files to type-safe Go using `tui generate`. At runtime there's a flexbox layout engine based…

This was by far the most common missing feature of the library since my first post, so I'm really happy I managed to figure it out. See the release for some code examples and a detailed changelog, and most importantly, have a great day!
