I have started developing a prototype of a WireGuard VPN hub, where I could set a custom exit to a specific device, for example, my TV box would use a VPN in Germany, while my desktop a VPN is Serbia and I could switch the exit in realtime without having to stop the VPN connections and consequently no disconnections (ssh, etc). The project grew, and I ended up adding SOCKS5 and HTTP proxy, Tor exits, exit pools, random exits, timed exits, and exits/routes based on domains or IP addresses. WireHub is a side project I've been working on, on and off, for close to a year now. It's made with django and minimal javascript. It's a hosted WireGuard config generator/manager, that you can invite others to join your networks and manage their own configs/devices. I created Firezone to make it easier to host and manage your own WireGuard VPN server. While working at Cisco as a security automation engineer I experienced a lot of unnecessary pain managing secure network-level access into our cloud VPCs. Hi HN, Some misbehaving networks drop WireGuard packets either by accident or on purpose. Commonly the latter is done with simple DPI rules that block the handshake initiation [1], but it could be applied to other message types as well. Hey HN! I just released weron, a P2P VPN that uses WebRTC for transport which I've been working on for the last couple of months. It can create both layer 2/Ethernet and layer 3/IP overlay networks, and the underlying transport layer can be easily embedded to write your own P2P apps with Go. Compared to for example Tailscale, WireGuard and ZeroTier, its much harder to block on a network level and also significantly easier to set up, while not sacrifing much performance. I use WireGuard to connect to my homelab, but I really dislike sending all my computer's traffic through my home network — it slows things down and is inconvenient.
