The service lets you share an entire folder - not just a single file - with anyone on the Internet in a single click. Under the hood, GET responses are hydrated with file fragments streamed over a duplex WebSocket connection. Close the browser tab, and the server disappears. Files can also be password-protected. I built it because I needed a way to share a static website with a client without first uploading the work to a cloud service.

i made sink. it's a simple little tool that continuously syncs folders between 2 devices. no cloud, no email, flash drives, no bs. it just uses your local wifi. run it on your machines, tell them to trust each other, and you're set. and if you manage to edit the same file at once, it handles the conflict and saves both copies. for anyone who just wants to get files from point a to b without the headache. hope it makes your life a bit less annoying. github: https://github.com/sirbread/sink binary:…

Recently I've been playing with an idea of a file server on my Android phone, with a web browser access. I wanted to replace: - AirDroid - sending files to my own PC or laptop. - ShareIt - sending big files over the local network to my family devices. - Dropbox - sharing select files with other people over the Internet. I like to use org files a lot, but I wanted some way to browse and edit them on my phone when I'm out. Yesterday I used Codex to make this simple one-file web server that just displays all my org files with backlinks. It doesn't have any authentication because I only run it on my wireguard VPN. I've been having fun with it, hopefully it's useful to someone else!

I thought it would be great to share code snippets without saving them on a server, so I created http://mem.pe It allows you to paste code and save it in your browser's local storage. When you share the URL of the pasted code, other people will connect to it via web sockets. For example, this http://mem.pe/#sge/5 you will be pulling from my browser. I'll keep it open for a while. If you close the web app, your code paste will not be available for anyone to see, until you open the web app again. This is obviously, not suitable for using at forums and other places…

Hey HN! I made a service to share passwords easy and secure but never promoted it. It's called instapass.io I noticed that people besides my friends and clients actually started to use, so maybe it will be helpful for you too! You share one-time self-destruct message using one time links and I won't even be able to see what you wrote. How does it work? When you generate a message the client-side makes a random password and use that to encrypt the message. The password is appended as an anchor tag which all modern browsers never send to the server.
