Socket to Me, a static file server that runs in the browser
The service lets you share an entire folder - not just a single file - with anyone on the Internet in a single click. Under the hood, GET responses are hydrated with file fragments streamed over a duplex WebSocket connection. Close the browser tab, and the server disappears. Files can also be password-protected. I built it because I needed a way to share a static website with a client without first uploading the work to a cloud service.

Instant folder sharing
Files are exclusively stored on your device. Socket2 acts like a transient proxy between you and the person you trust, never storing or exposing any of your data. Files are password-protected and delivered with SSL encryption. 2. You click on a button to grant your browser read-only access to a folder on your device. 3. When someone visits your custom public URL they can see and download the contents of your shared folder. When an authenticated HTTP request is received to your public URL it is split into frames and sent to your browser tab.
