10 second version: Get 10000feet view of job descriptions - https://be-distinguished.com 2 minute version : Hi HN, Long time lurker, big fan, and first time poster inspired by how this community elaborates on ideas and new products. Recently was given feedback that my CV was too long at 2 pages, I was at loss as to how to update it without having a high-level view of the requirements of the type of jobs I would be interested in. So I built https://be-distinguished.com to help me study relevant job requirements categorized by seniority, salary and keywords. I then used my…

Hey HN, I'm excited to share a project I've been working on for the past few months. As someone who has spent countless hours tweaking my resume for different job applications, I wanted to find a way to make this process more efficient and effective. So, I built a website that tailors your resume for each job you apply for. You can check it out here: https://resume.ink Looking forward to your thoughts! Cheers, Sami

Hey HN! We built a quick way to normalize CVs and resumes. Specifically, we built a simple 2-page app at https://cv.studio/ where you can choose a pdf, doc or docx file, and CV Studio will extract the relevant professional metadata out of it and give you a web-shareable URL of that CV. There are a couple other features (e.g. being able to add information that is missing in the CV) but we’re hoping this makes it easier for people to share CVs of applicants during the hiring process. We’d love any feedback or questions you might have.

Hello! I used an LLM to extract structured data from each comment on the “Ask HN: Who is Hiring? (January 2024)” post, available at: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38842977. This created a dataset of 400+ jobs with data such as title, company name, location, is job remote, salary data, and the URL/email to contact. For the UI, a NextJS static site was created to filter and view the structured data.

Hey Hacker News, I made a job aggregator for entry-level positions that focus on students, recent grads, and individuals with less than 3 years of experience. I mostly find dev jobs requiring 3+ years of experience and is a huge pain so I made this. We recently launched our MVP last month and today we are launching V2 with a category based re-design. We will be adding filtering tags very soon. Please let us know if you have any questions or feedback. Link: https://entrylevel.io

Hi Everyone, My name is Tosin Kuye, a computer science student from Canada. After looking online for various ways to tailor your resume/write a cover letter and being disappointed in the results, I built CoverQuick. CoverQuick is a site that uses the job description to tailor your resume and write a personalized cover letter for that position. It uses a number of different NLP techniques along with GPT-3 to find the right keywords and add the ideal suggestions to the given resume. Try it out below and let me know what you think! https://app.coverquick.co/playground

My friend Angus (angusiguess) & I became annoyed trying to parse through the wonderful 'Who is Hiring?' threads looking for internships this summer, so we made a searchable version. It's just the first roll out, we have some other stuff planned. It's important to note that this was all done programatically, so there is no possibility for 100% accuracy with most fields. We would love to hear your feedback! If you have any more personal issues (ie, want your post removed), contact info is available in our profiles. Wrote a proof of concept script for searching for jobs by copy pasting your resume. It looks for jobs posted on Hacker News Who’s Hiring from the past 3 months: https://colab.research.google.com/drive/12wt7cjhIUKf1Vu2rRFO... To use it, click Runtime > Run All. Wait about 5 minutes, then once everything is done, go to the bottom most cell and you can change the query variable from my resume to yours, and then re-run the cell. Largely written by GPT-4 and copy pasting documentation, with some minor tweaking.

Hey HN, I wanted to share an open source plugin + skills I put together that turn Claude Code into a job search assistant. The goal is to minimize the amount of time needed to find interesting and relevant jobs. How it works: 1. Clone the repo, install the plugin, and run `/job-search` 2. Claude will ask a few questions to understand the roles you’re interested in and save your preferences locally. 3. Claude will then pull live job postings (currently, LinkedIn Jobs), compare posts against your preferences, and generate a digest of the posts that are relevant. 4. [Optionally] Claude…
