24 alternatives to Spoon-Bending – a framework for analyzing GPT-5 alignment behavior
I put together a repo called Spoon-Bending, it is not a jailbreak or hack, it is a structured logical framework for studying how GPT-5 responds under different framings compared to earlier versions. The framework maps responses into zones of refusal, partial analysis, or free exploration, making alignment behavior more reproducible and easier to study systematically. The idea is simple: by treating prompts and outputs as part of a logical schema, you can start to see objective patterns in how alignment shifts across versions. The README explains the schema and provides concrete tactics for…

Hi HN! I've found this visualization tool immensely helpful over the years for getting an intuition for how an LLM "sees" some piece of text, and with a bit of elbow grease decided to move all compute to client side so I could make it publicly available. I've found it particularly useful for - Understanding exactly how repetition and patterns affect a small LM's ability to predict correctly - Understanding different tokenization patterns and how it affects model output - Getting a general sense of how "hard" different prediction tasks are for GPT-style models Known problems (that I probably…

YourGPT 2.0▲215Today we are launching YourGPT 2.0, an update focused on making support, sales, and operational workflows work together more smoothly in one system. This release improves how workflows are built, how the platform connects to external tools, and how context is maintained across long, multi-channel interactions. AI Studio now makes it much easier to create and refine workflows. You can describe the process you want in natural language and the system generates the full workflow for you. It can also help debug issues by showing what happened at each step and explaining where things went off…

Hey Hacker News! Launching gptengineer.app into beta today. It's like Claude Artifacts, but: - you can edit the code in your fav IDE (two-way github sync) - installs npm packages - automatically picks up build and runtime errors and fixes them - very fast, built with rust The full stack capabilities are built on supabase (prefer to not have to handle auth + user data at this point so this is owned by the user) The seed for this project was an open source experiment, posted about that previously here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36422730 Would love feedback if you give…

Built a tool for transforming unstructured data into structured outputs using language models (with 100% adherence). If you're facing problems getting GPT to adhere to a schema (JSON, XML, etc.) or regex, need to bulk process some unstructured data, or generate synthetic data, check it out. We run our own tuned model (you can self-host if you want), so, we're able to have incredibly fine grained control over text generation. We recently used DeepSeek V4 Flash as a teacher for finance tasks with GPT-OSS-120B. Distillation works well on this problem. At a constrained 8k token budget, our self-distilled 120B scores 83.61% on FinanceReasoning, above Kimi K3 (81.93%) and Inkling (65.13%). We released the 20B open weights. With V4 as the teacher though, we realized it would be timely to measure if the censorship characteristic of it transferred to the distilled version of the base model. tl;dr it didn't, the teacher answered politically sensitive questions 7 SDs differently than expected, but the distilled model's…

Hello Hacker News community, Wanted to share a project I started working on during my spare time and was then discovered by many in the open source community last week. GPT Engineer’s mission: Be the open platform for devs to tinker with and build their personal code-generation toolbox. I believe it's key for us devs to engage in how building software can and will change. You can find more info about the flexible technical "philosophy" to make it work well, and the community we want it to become on github: https://github.com/AntonOsika/gpt-engineer The project is still in…

Hey HN! This has been my project for a few years now. I recently brought it back to life after taking a pause to focus on my studies. My goal with this project is to separate fluff from science when shopping for supplements. I am doing this in 3 steps: 1.) I index every supplement on the market (extract each ingredient, normalize by quantity) 2.) I index every research paper on supplementation (rank every claim by effect type and effect size) 3.) I link data between supplements and research papers Earlier last year, I took pause on a project because I've ran into a few issues: Legal: Shady…

Hey hacker news, we launched a few weeks ago as a GPT-powered chatbot for developer docs, and quickly realized that the value of what we’re doing isn’t the chatbot itself. Rather, it’s the time we save developers by automating the extraction of data from their SaaS tools (Github, Zendesk, Salesforce, etc) and helping transform it to contextually relevant chunks that fit into GPT’s context window. A lot of companies are building prototypes with GPT right now and they’re all using some combination of Langchain/Llama Index + Weaviate/Pinecone + GPT3.5/GPT4 as their stack for…
