This is some short information of how I bootstrapped my hosting company, pretty much an MVP of a hosting company. 1. Provide MINIMAL/NO support. No technical support is provided, all VPS plans and Web Hosting plans are unmanaged and provide only support on issues with services provided by us (billing, control panel) but nothing inside the VPS unless it is a fault on our end (network misconfiguration). 2. There are plenty of ways to deploy your apps. PaaS options like Vercel or Netlify are convenient but can get pricey as projects scale. VPS hosting is cheaper, but setting it up (Linux, networking, SSL, etc.) can be daunting. Hi! I am sharing this because it may be useful to others. I created a simple Docker image that lets you easily expose a web app running locally on your dev machine to the Internet, via a proxy server. It is a self hosted alternative to something like Ngrok, which is a paid service if you use custom domains. A small server is cheaper than Ngrok (I use Hetzner Cloud and the cheapest server costs me 3€ per month).
