Products that do what Bootstrapped Hosting company does
This is some short information of how I bootstrapped my hosting company, pretty much an MVP of a hosting company. 1. Provide MINIMAL/NO support. No technical support is provided, all VPS plans and Web Hosting plans are unmanaged and provide only support on issues with services provided by us (billing, control panel) but nothing inside the VPS unless it is a fault on our end (network misconfiguration). 2. Automated setup. All VPSs are deployed instantly, (à la DigitalOcean) so no humans have to manually deploy them. END PRODUCT: https://definedcodehosting.com All payment is…

Recently moved all of my apps to a $4/mo VPS using Coolify Saved tons of $$, and can self-host my Ghost/Wordpress/Postgres instances etc. Built a tool to help others do the same

Hey guys, we just launched a platform to match top startups with high end projects. We're focused on supporting startups that would rather take on a short term consulting gig than raising a round of funding. We'd love some feedback. Thanks!

Hi HN, I'm Alon, and I'm building Alien, an open-source platform for deploying your software into your customer's environment and keeping it fully managed. In my previous startup, I heard the same question from every single enterprise customer over and over again: "My data is sensitive. Can I deploy your product to my own cloud account?" Self-hosting is becoming very popular because it lets users keep their data private, local, and inside their own environment. Unfortunately, self-hosting breaks down when someone starts paying for your software. Especially if it's an enterprise customer.…

This is my, fully bootstrapped, take on an application hosting platform. I designed it primarily for myself, to meet the following goals: * Utilize the best parts of the cloud, leave expensive value added services behind. * Host anywhere in the world, close to your users. * Batteries included: backups, logging, monitoring, auto-scaling, containerization, databases. * Simple and user friendly. The journey was tough. It took me round about 3 years to get everything just right. This goes against the conventional wisdom of getting something simple out quick. With a hosting platform however, in…

There are plenty of ways to deploy your apps. PaaS options like Vercel or Netlify are convenient but can get pricey as projects scale. VPS hosting is cheaper, but setting it up (Linux, networking, SSL, etc.) can be daunting. That’s why glueh-wyy-huet (https://github.com/glueh-wyy-huet) and I (https://github.com/biersoeckli) built QuickStack during our bachelor studies at Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences. QuickStack simplifies deployment by letting you deploy directly from a Git repo or Docker registry to any VPS. It’s free, open source, and…

Hey HN, I built Server Compass because I got tired of two extremes: paying $200+/month to Vercel/Railway for a polished deploy experience, or wrestling with self-hosted panels (Coolify, CapRover, Dokploy) that eat up half my VPS resources just to run their dashboard. The core idea: A GUI SSH client that gives you Vercel-like deployment UX on your own VPS. Nothing gets installed on your server except your apps – every command runs over SSH from your desktop. What it does: - 1-click deploys from GitHub repos or 160+ pre-built templates (Postgres, WordPress, Ghost, Supabase, n8n,…

Hi founders! Yesterday, when we learned that Airplane.dev was shutting down, we decided it might be the time for our first post on HN. We hope to assist Airplane customers in migrating to our platform (https://uibakery.io) to minimize the impact of this unfortunate event. UI Bakery is a bootstrapped company and has not taken any VC investments. My co-founders and I, all software engineers, funded this business with the profits from our previous software services business. In the early stages of our previous venture, we developed several popular open-source projects (admin dashboard…

Hey, Recently, I was blindsided by my web hosting plan renewing at almost double its initial cost. This unpleasant surprise prompted me to create Match My Hosting. As a hobby coder, I built this straightforward tool in my spare time using dead simple PHP, HTML, and JS with the massive help of ChatGPT-4. The tool currently includes around 30 providers with 120 different packages. It uses Trustpilot reviews to guide the recommendations, ensuring you choose a host that's not only technically suitable but also well-regarded by users. And to avoid any surprises, it also clearly displays both the…

Hey HN, I'm Daniel, solo dev from Germany. I built ClawHosters (https://clawhosters.com), a managed hosting platform for OpenClaw, the open-source AI agent framework. Quick timeline: domain registered February 5th. First paying customer six days later. I probably should have spent more time on it, but it works. If you haven't seen OpenClaw, it lets you run a personal AI assistant that connects to Telegram, Discord, Slack, and WhatsApp. Self-hosting it is absolutely possible, but it's a pain. You're dealing with Docker setup, SSL certs, port forwarding, security hardening, keeping…
