Products that do what I built a tool to manage deployments across your VPS through a web UI does

There are plenty of ways to deploy your apps. PaaS options like Vercel or Netlify are convenient but can get pricey as projects scale. VPS hosting is cheaper, but setting it up (Linux, networking, SSL, etc.) can be daunting. That’s why glueh-wyy-huet (https://github.com/glueh-wyy-huet) and I (https://github.com/biersoeckli) built QuickStack during our bachelor studies at Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences. QuickStack simplifies deployment by letting you deploy directly from a Git repo or Docker registry to any VPS. It’s free, open source, and…

Seven years in the making (I admit that I did get a kid at some point which slowed down progress and brought it to a halt quite a few times), I decided to finaly release it, with a rather drastic change to the now (I believe) generous licensing model. Unlike current major players in this field, I decided to go with uncrippled, free version for commercial use for corps with up to 1M USD ARR. I poured my heart and soul into this, not because I was looking for financial success, but because I felt it just had to be done, given the price hikes wherever you look today. While my wife and kid were…

Been using it for about a year now in production, but rewrote it completely in golang. My first go project so far. I wanted to have something that would make my life easier. A lot of tools nowaday kinda push you towards functional deployments and that usually doesn't work for me since I like stuff like LiveView by Phoenix and Websocket stuff in general. Old vercel deployments back when they allowed to deploy docker containers was a godsend, but since they don't offer that anymore I had to use services like fly.io(which is amazing) or heroku. However I wanted something selfhosted that I could…

Hi, I have set up this service to help people, HN people :) start side projects. The idea is that whenever we start a new project we need to: - Register a domain - Setup email - Setup cloud flare - Setup google analytics - Create a deployment pipeline - Deploy somewhere - Configure DNS to support all this Whenever I do this I spend at least 3-4 hours doing this on a project that might not go live and where I would much rather be hacking on something rather than waiting for cloud flare to find the nameserver changes! So you pay a one time small fee plus the cost of the domain and we set all…

2 years ago, while deploying the Valosan press relations platform to AWS, I made a mistake, which resulted in a $4.5k USD bill overnight. After that, I learned that AWS CloudFront CDN charges are not immediately reflected in cost management, and my billing alerts do not help. That got me thinking - would it be possible to deploy apps quickly using a host with simple, predictable pricing and without all the complexity of configuring the server via SSH? While still having a high level of developer productivity with a modern toolchain. Last year, I started working on a DollarDeploy, and we are…

Happy New Year HN! I’m the co-creator of Orbiter, a dead simple tool for uploading and hosting static sites. We built Orbiter for ourselves and realized it would probably be useful for others. Static site content is some of the simplest on the web, yet hosting this content has gotten increasingly complex over time. Many of you are engineers and don’t have much problem with CI/CD pipelines as a mechanism for deploying a website. This is true for me as well. But there are times when I want to just upload a simple website. I might not even want to put it under source control. And I know…
