https://github.com/siraben/ti84-forth Hi HN! For the past year I've been getting into programming in Z80 assembly (especially for the TI-84+). More recently I've been learning about the Forth programming language and after a lot of searching online (in vain) for a Forth interpreter for the TI-84, I decided to write one myself. It's been fun demoing this to others, because it's a very unexpected use of a calculator. It's my largest project to date, and I'm interested to know what the HN community thinks, please feel free to critique my code! -- Ben

4 months ago, our announcement for our free, multi-node, petabyte-scale time-series database generated 200+ comments: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23272992 Many commented on the Timescale License, our source-available license governing advanced features (eg multi-node). Most were positive, but some pointed out drawbacks (who says HN can't be productive!). That spurred an internal debate. Today we're happy to share an updated Timescale License with new rights, including the "right-to-repair" and "right-to-improve." And we’re doubling-down on our community, making all…

We been helping mid-market companies for the past 1.5 years and finally ready to share the internal platform publicly. Yansu (严肃) is a AI coding platform that use spec + TDD to build complex software projects. It is more like a SOP than coding agent. We focus on understanding requirements and checking outcomes against those requirements while iterating the code based on the tests. Yansu tries to learn as much tribal knowledge as possible. These are things you don’t write down in google doc or Notion. Yansu absorbs these knowledge by continuously talking to users and distilling learning from…

Hello HN! My partner and I just published issue #5 of The Orbital Index, our brief & technical weekly newsletter about space science and the space industry, and so we've taken the project out of beta. The process of finding a voice and fine tuning the level of technical detail is ongoing, but we feel like we've arrived at something succinct, interesting, and technical, in a large part because of the great feedback that we have received from HN subscribers from our last Show HN (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=19227434) a month ago. Here's our website, where you can signup…

https://hn-buddies.stupidlabs.lol Find hackernews audience whose comments matches most to you. This is based on tf-idf weighted keywords match from comments. Covers data from Jan 1, 2020 through May 31, 2026. Keywords that are too rare or too broad across authors are filtered out before scoring. Due to above filtering, a lot of the authors are NOT covered here. Full coverage would have yielded more than a few trillion records, and I don't have that much compute or disk. Details of the process: https://hn-buddies.stupidlabs.lol/about-data --- You can also see who…

Hey HN, I'm Steve, co-founder of Factor.fyi, a new data platform for querying and visualizing financial datasets using SQL. During the pandemic, I took much more of an active role in managing my portfolio. I wanted to be able to make informed decisions about the investments I was making, and explore financial data in new ways. Market and Econ data are some of the most talked-about and widely-available datasets out there, but I was frustrated by the lack of options to answer questions I had, like, "What would have happened if I had started dollar-cost averaging VTI back in 2013?"[1] Or, "How…
