Understanding scientific articles can be tough, even in your own field. Trying to comprehend articles from others? Good luck. Enter, Now I Get It! I made this app for curious people. Simply upload an article and after a few minutes you'll have an interactive web page showcasing the highlights. Generated pages are stored in the cloud and can be viewed from a gallery. Now I Get It! uses the best LLMs out there, which means the app will improve as AI improves. Free for now - it's capped at 20 articles per day so I don't burn cash. A few things I (and maybe you will) find interesting: * This is…

Well, I certainly tried. I had to, because it has a certain quirk inspired by "digital minimalism." The quirk is that it only allows you to fetch new articles once per day (or X days). Why? Let me explain... I want my internet content to be like a boring newspaper. You get it in the morning, and you read the whole thing while sipping your morning coffee, and then you're done! No more new information for today. No pings, no alerts, peace, quiet, zen, etc. But with that, I needed it to be able to fetch all articles from my hundreds of feeds in one sitting. This is where Zig and curl…

Hi HN, Would love your thoughts on Open Paper Digest. It’s a mobile feed that let’s you “doomscroll” through summaries of popular papers that were published recently. Backstory There’s a combination of factors lead me to build this: 1. Quality of content social media apps has decreased, but I still notice that it is harder than ever for me to stay away from these apps. 2. I’ve been saying for a while now that I should start reading papers to keep up with what’s going on in AI-world. Initially, I set out to build something solely for point 2. This version was more search-focussed, and…

My wife recently started her PhD and while she uses Zotero as a citation manager, she was really missing a tool for keeping track of what she's reading right now/has already read/needs to read next. This overwhelming experience might be familiar to other researchers working on a niche field where every paper is called pretty much the same thing So I built her Paperstack. It's basically Goodreads, but for research papers: - Save articles to familiar To Read/Reading/Read stacks - Tag articles with logical projects/chapters/whatever your system is - Get…

As a personal need I have been working on building this over the last year. Like others, I often found myself in the middle of work, but taking breaks to read Reddit, HN, watch YouTube videos, etc. Those short breaks often turned into doom scrolling, and before I knew it I had wasted hours throughout my day/week. I felt that if I just had the content that I was already consuming bundled up and delivered to me in a daily newsletter, I'd no longer have the need to keep checking these sites throughout the day. This eventually evolved into adding sources that I was not wasting time on but…
