Products that do what ThoughtfulPost Gift Recommendation Engine for Your Friends and Family does
I’ve started working on a new startup called Thoughtful Post (https://thoughtfulpost.com) It’s a useful and fun-to-use app that will help you organize and remember all of your friend’s birthdays/weddings/anniversaries and help you find interesting and new gifts to get them based on their likes and dislikes! There are collaboration features and surveys you can use to farm your friends likes/dislikes and work together with friends to pick out gifts for people. All of the functionality is in the mobile app:…

Partially inspired by recent discussions on HN and other places. I've made a single-focus site to introduce your friends/colleagues/neighbours/family to RSS and web feeds. https://www.youneedfeeds.com/ The site is meant to give the elevator pitch for feeds, show a newbie what feeds are and how to use them, set them up with a reader, and give them some nice starter content if they want it. So much tastemaking and newsmaking power is concentrated in the hands of Facebook/Reddit/Twitter, but I'm convinced it's because much of the general populace doesn't…

I bought the birthdays.app domain a few years ago and decided to build a simple birthday app, just text message reminders. I had hacked together a duct-tape version for myself a couple years prior (using zapier + google sheets), and found it useful. It was a pain sifting through Facebook birthdays (90% irrelevant), and I found the text reminders simpler than a calendar. The app has been slowly growing since 2023, and is now up to 739 paying users (mostly on the $9/yr plan, with a few paying $3/yr). Earlier this year, I built a Google Calendar integration to automatically sync…

The idea of creating this site came to me when I was thinking of gifts to get family and friends for Christmas after a very exhausting work week. Getting Christmas gifts or gifts in general can be time consuming and mind draining if you are the type of person that likes to give thoughtful gifts and does not like to repeat gifts. I decided to compile data of key points like gender, age group, hobbies, favorite things, favorite sports etc of the person receiving the gift, so as to suggest several gifts the receiver is most likely to love. Since I wanted to share this with others that might…

Hi everyone, I've been building a less bad way to share photos and videos out to friends and family: https://vzg.me The motivation is personal for me since... 1. I'm not comfortable using Facebook properties 2. Group SMS/email gets out of control with more than a few recipients 3. I don't want to convince my friends and family to download a new app or figure out shared albums So I created a system that lets my network subscribe to individual people in my family and get updates via email, SMS, or RSS at the frequency of their choosing (immediate, daily, or weekly). Subscribers…

Friends, Romans, HNers! Link: http://hackerbyte.com This is my first “weekend project” and it was really fun doing it. The sleepless weekends nights when all my friends were our partying or something we (me and two friends) were busy creating ‘hackerByte’ - a weekly newsletter to share inspiration with start-up people. Nothing fancy - just we’d like to share some really nice stuff we read and some news with you, every week. We know that newsletters like these already exist so why one more? Because we are not really satisfied with what they are doing and here is our version of the wheel. We…

Did this during the holidays and just finished with few extra features: http://thingsand.me/ And an example blog: http://thingsand.me/jori I tried to keep the platform as simple as possible and focus on the images instead of making yet another blogging platform. Time will tell for what people are going to use it. I hope to add API soon (iPhone uploader would be awesome to blog daily activities).

Hey HN community, I'm excited to share with you an application I've been working on that can help you create beautiful and personalized greeting cards, social media images, and event invitations with the power of AI. With the application, you can easily generate custom greeting cards for all occasions, such as birthdays, weddings, and holidays, simply by providing a prompt. You can also create social media images and posts for all major platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, and Reddit, to promote your events, product launches, or successful feature releases. The application uses advanced…

Hi guys, We have just built Ultimategiftlists.com My girlfriend keeps asking me what I want for Christmas. I also need to buy stuff for my nephew. So I wrote a list of stuff out for my girlfriend and sent her an email of links showing her the stuff I wanted. I found that my brother did exactly the same to show me what I should get my nephews. There had to be a better way to do this. Amazon wishlist exists but it doesn't do it as effectively as I wanted. Therefore my mate and I built our new site - www.ultimategiftlists.com - it's hopefully very simple to use and has a really cool feature…
