I created a site to help HN users give the perfect Christmas gift
The idea of creating this site came to me when I was thinking of gifts to get family and friends for Christmas after a very exhausting work week. Getting Christmas gifts or gifts in general can be time consuming and mind draining if you are the type of person that likes to give thoughtful gifts and does not like to repeat gifts. Startup Wishareit – Trying to solve the bad gifts issue2013 · angel.co · ▲8Hi HN! I'm quite new to HN so I'm sorry if I don't do a well built post (in terms of form) as you are probably used to. My name is João Romão, from Portugal, and I'm one of the co-founders of Wishareit, a place for collaborative gifting with your friends and family. Everybody loves gifts but sometimes finding a gift is a really hard task. And the consequence is painful: you get ugly clothes, bad books and.. cactuses. We reached out and discovered that 40% of all gifts in the US in 2011 were considered to be crap and that 83% of people had trouble when looking for a gift. That's a really…

Hi HN, I figured there are a lot of HN users on here who have a lifetime's worth of valuable tips & advice that they could share with fellow HN users, and that would be very helpful to the rest of us. So I decided to spend a couple of days creating a micro-site where HNers with valuable tips & advice to share, can share those personal-experience derived advice with those of us who would appreciate & benefit from said advice. Link to site: https://yoomter.com Enjoy!

I made a thing! In 2014, I was holding a stack of iPhones and thought to myself: "Hey, if I had each phone display a playing card, I could click a button and they'd shuffle themselves" I pared that idea all the way down to this: trading cards made of e-ink displays. Right now, each card costs me about $20 each, but with only a bit more scale, I think I can get that down to $10. In doing this project, I learned how to design electronics and circuit boards. I learned Rust and wrote my first driver, I upped my CAD skills, 3D printed, and did my first resin casting. I generated the images on the…
