24 alternatives to Threads on Web

This press release describes the product (which you can use for free with promo code "ULAUNCH"). The app gathers job listings directly from company websites (different than aggregators that collect directly from ATS's). So there are about ~30% of 300k+ jobs listed not found on paid sites like Indeed. This job search site is geared towards job seekers (rather than employers). Would love any feedback

Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes. Threads on Web launched in 2023; newer entries below may have overtaken it.

I noticed the who's hiring threads are very popular every month, so I decided to create a job board specifically for hacker news. You can tag jobs, search, view user's profiles and more. Tell me what you guys thing! Any feedback is appreciated.

Based on the multiple "Who's hiring remotely?" and similar posts on HN, I thought it might be useful to have a site that aggregates remote programming jobs. There is way too much spam out and an inconsistent way to say "work from home" so traditional searching doesn't work (or rather, takes a long time per person). I've worked in a few remote programming positions so I figured I might know of some companies or searching tricks to find them. Let me know if you'd find this type of thing useful. If we can get some traffic going, then maybe we can start attracting companies to actually list…

(not sure why my previous post didn't appear on Show HN even though I included it in the title, mods please remove if not allowed) Ever applied for a job and never heard back? Many companies just go silent instead of sending rejection emails, leaving you guessing whether to keep waiting or move on. I faced this frustration during my own internship search, especially when there was no real point of contact (automated replies don't count, lol). So, I built didtheyghost.me, a simple open-source tool that crowdsources job application responses. This isn't a job scraper or another job board. It's…

Hello HN Community! I've transformed the "Ask HN: Who's hiring? (November 2023)" post into a Google Sheet. Here's a quick rundown of the method: I utilized the Hacker News Algolia Search API to extract data. You can find the specific thread URL here: https://hn.algolia.com/api/v1/search_by_date?tags=comment,st... Using a GET request, I fetched comments from the thread and processed them via the ChatGPT API. Employing the ChatGPT API for each comment, I parsed crucial job details such as company, position, location, and more. This information was structured and…

Hey HN, I built a UI on top of the "Who is hiring" posts. Take a look at https://hnwork.app! One of the downsides of unstructured text posts is the readability due to it being free-form and having little to no format. While there are other tools that have been built over the years to make perusing Who is hiring posts easier, I took a try on making my own (I actually tried to build this at a YC hackathon a few years back, but got around to completing it recently). Features: 1. Text search and search filters 2. Original post text with call outs to important information 3. Removes…

Searching for job roles in tech? I've been there. For six months, I was stuck in the LinkedIn job application loop, getting nowhere. It was soul-crushing. I started to wonder if I was just a bad developer. But I changed my modus operandi and started reaching out to founders building super cool startups that got recently funded but didnt have the chance to post online yet that they are hiring, the response rate was much more significant and I wwas having super cool convos! This approach was so effective, I turned it into a product. I've tapped into premium data sources (we're talking $25K+…

Hey HN, All our startup friends are having trouble finding good engineers to hire, while some of our friends who work at big companies are looking for new challenges. But they don't read HN or TC. They don't know where to start looking. So we put together a place for the best opportunities. We'd love some feedback, ideas or suggestions... Hello everyone, I got laid off last year and during the job hunt, I kept running into ghost jobs, these listings that never lead anywhere. Super frustrating. After some point, I started tracking company behavior across job boards. It snowballed into a little web app where you can actually see how companies are hiring — or pretending to. It's free, early stage, UI is a bit rough, but here’s what some info it shows per company: -Job boards they post on -ATS system they use -Median salary by role -Post frequency + how old the listings are -Skills and degree requirements -Track all existing…

Hey, folks! I'm writing this small Chrome Extension to help me find jobs I'd be interested in the monthly HN's "Who is Hiring?" thread. I've used React to render the UI that just loads a stripped down version of the posts and look into them by the tags I've chosen. Here's a demo: http://imgur.com/a/CzNSa. I haven't submitted to the Chrome Web Store yet because of their $5 fee. :P But let me know if you'd be interested and I can share the extension with you :)

I vibe-coded a small project that turns the “Ask HN: Who is hiring?” thread into searchable job data using OpenAI, PostgreSQL, and Metabase. It pulls the thread using the Hacker News API, uses GPT to extract fields like company, role, location, salary, and contact, stores everything in PostgreSQL, and spins up Metabase so you can explore and search the results. Right now it runs locally, but would anyone be interested if I built this out a bit more and made a public dashboard?
