Hey! We are presenting CodeTracer - a user-friendly time-traveling debugger designed to support a wide range of programming languages: https://github.com/metacraft-labs/codetracer?tab=readme-ov-f... CodeTracer records the execution of a program into a sharable self-contained trace file. You can load the produced trace files in a GUI environment that allows you to move forward and backward through the execution and to examine the history of all memory locations. They say a picture is worth a thousand words — well, a video is even better! Watch the demo below to see…

Hi HN, we are building Tracecat (https://tracecat.com/), an open source automation platform for security alerts. Tracecat automates the tasks a security analyst has to do when responding to a security alert: e.g. contact victims, investigate security logs, report vulnerability. The average security analyst deals with 100 alerts per day. As soon as an alert comes in, you have to investigate and respond. An average alert takes ~30 minutes to analyze (and 100 x 30 min = 50 hours > one whole day) Lots of things get dropped, and this creates vulnerabilities. Many breaches can be…

Hey Xinwei and Zecheng here, we are the authors of TraceRoot (https://github.com/traceroot-ai/traceroot). TraceRoot (https://traceroot.ai) is an open-source debugging platform that helps engineers fix production issues faster by combining structured traces, logs, source code contexts and discussions in Github PRs, issues and Slack channels, etc. with AI Agents. At the heart are our lightweight Python (https://github.com/traceroot-ai/traceroot-sdk) and TypeScript (https://github.com/traceroot-ai/traceroot-sdk-ts) SDKs -…

Yes, it's open source: https://github.com/lissy93/web-check :) Why I'm building this? There are a lot of tools out there for discovering meta and security data relating to a website, IP or server. But currently, there isn't anything that does everything, all in one place and without a paywall/ user sign up. It's still a WIP, and I'm working on a new version, with some more comprehensive checks, so any feedback would be much appreciated :)

Uptrace is an all-in-one tool that supports distributed tracing, metrics, and logs. It uses OpenTelelemetry observability framework to collect data and ClickHouse database to store it. You can ingest data using OpenTelemetry Protocol (OTLP), Vector Logs, and Zipkin API. You can also use OpenTelemetry Collector to collect Prometheus metrics or receive data from Jaeger, X Ray, Apache, PostgreSQL, MySQL and many more. The latest Uptrace release introduces support for OpenTelemetry Metrics which includes: - User interface to build table-based and grid-based dashboards. - Pre-built dashboard…

FlowTracker, a Java agent that tracks data flowing through Java programs. It helps you understand where any program got its output from, what it means, and why it wrote it. Watch the video or explore the live demo yourself, and read how it works at https://github.com/coekie/flowtracker

Hey HN, Nir, Gal and Tomer here. We’re open-sourcing a set of extensions we’ve built on top of OpenTelemetry that provide visibility into LLM applications - whether it be prompts, vector DBs and more. Here’s the repo: https://github.com/traceloop/openllmetry. There’s already a decent number of tools for LLM observability, some open-source and some not. But what we found was missing for all of them is that they were closed-protocol by design, vendor-locking you to use their observability platform or their proprietary framework for running your LLMs. It’s still early in the…

I’ve been experimenting with Rust lately and wanted a project that would help me explore some of its lower-level and performance-oriented features. Inspired by Sebastian Lague’s videos, I decided to implement my own ray tracer from scratch. The initial goal was just to render a simple 3D scene in the browser at a reasonable frame rate. It evolved into a small renderer that can: • Run locally or on the web using wgpu and WebAssembly • Perform mesh rendering with a Bounding Volume Hierarchy (BVH) for acceleration • Simulate both direct and indirect illumination for photorealistic results • Be…
