Parsewise▲169Hi HN! We're X25 alumni and built Parsewise to analyze large document sets with AI agents. Instead of prompting a single PDF, our agents extract, cross-reference, and reason across thousands of documents in one run. We originally built this for insurance and financial diligence workflows where teams review huge document packs. Curious what the HN community thinks! Check out our public demos: demo.parsewise.ai/insurance-claims-triage demo.parsewise.ai/reinsurance-recovery-optimization demo.parsewise.ai/investment-diligence demo.parsewise.ai/mortgage-underwriting

TLDR: I’ve made a transformer model and a wrapper library that segments text into meaningful semantic chunks. The current text splitting approaches rely on heuristics (although one can use neural embedder to group semantically related sentences). I propose a fully neural approach to semantic chunking. I took the base distilbert model and trained it on a bookcorpus to split concatenated text paragraphs into original paragraphs. Basically it’s a token classification task. Model fine-tuning took day and a half on a 2x1080ti. The library could be used as a text splitter module in a RAG system or…

Rank a list of documents according to their relevance to a query primarily and your custom instructions secondarily. We evaluated the model on instructions for recency, document type, source, and metadata, and it can generalize to other instructions as well. The reranker supports multilinguality. Th

Hey HN! I’ve recently open-sourced Pyversity, a lightweight library for diversifying retrieval results. Most retrieval systems optimize only for relevance, which can lead to top-k results that look almost identical. Pyversity efficiently re-ranks results to balance relevance and diversity, surfacing items that remain relevant but are less redundant. This helps with improving retrieval, recommendation, and RAG pipelines without adding latency or complexity. Main features: - Unified API: one function (diversify) supporting several well-known strategies: MMR, MSD, DPP, and COVER (with more to…

Wordwise▲114Hey HN, While learning Danish, I kept translating the same words over and over. I’d take notes, highlight books, save things in random places… then lose track of it all. I wanted something simple. Translate a word, save it with context, and review it later so it actually sticks. Nothing I found really did that. So I built my own app. It lets you: - Translate and save words instantly - Add notes, tags, example sentences, gender, even emojis - Review everything with flashcards using spaced repetition - Track how many words you’ve really learned - Use it fully offline with on-device ML Kit…

Hey HN! We're excited to introduce Logwise, our new AI-powered log analysis tool. (built by two devs who hate logs) Product page: https://logwise.framer.website/ Logwise makes debugging and incident response faster for developers. It uses natural language processing to automatically parse log data, surface insights, and detect anomalies. We built Logwise to eliminate the manual sifting of log analysis. Key features: - Search logs in plain English - no complex queries needed - Auto-generated alerts highlight potential issues - Contextual debugging advice speeds incident…

RAGLite is a Python package for building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) applications. RAG applications can be magical when they work well, but anyone who has built one knows how much the output quality depends on the quality of retrieval and augmentation. With RAGLite, we set out to unhobble RAG by mapping out all of its subproblems and implementing the best solutions to those subproblems. For example, RAGLite solves the chunking problem by partitioning documents in provably optimal level 4 semantic chunks. Another unique contribution is its optimal closed-form linear query adapter…

We’ve just open-sourced Vicinity, a lightweight approximate nearest neighbors (ANN) search package that allows for fast experimentation and comparison of a larger number of well known algorithms. Main features: - Lightweight: the base package only uses Numpy - Unified interface: use any of the supported algorithms and backends with a single interface: HNSW, Annoy, FAISS, and many more algorithms and libraries are supported - Easy evaluation: evaluate the performance of your backend with a simple function to measure queries per second vs recall - Serialization: save and load your index for…
