Now that any text can be AI generated, how do you tell if something was actually generated or composed. It is impossible to detect AI after a piece of text has been generated. Hey HN! Author of the site here. I tried a few tricks to keep the text-generation part of the site up, but even leaning hard on Huggingface's API and bumping time-outs up, it looks like the site is struggling a bit. I'm going to see if there's anything I can do to keep the text-generation part available, but in the meantime, the pre-generated set should stay pretty stable. Hey all! I've been increasingly concerned about low-quality AI generated content polluting the internet. Other AI detectors don't seem to work well in my experience, so I started checkfor.ai with a couple friends. I started building this 10 months ago, largely using agentic coding tools. I've stayed very involved in the code base and architecture, and have never moved faster in my life as a dev. The word processor engine and rendering layer are all built from scratch - the only 3rd party library I used was the excellent Y.js for the CRDT stack. Would love some feedback!

We have a dataset of 3,095 standardized AI responses across 43 prompts. From each response, we extract a 32-dimension stylometric fingerprint (lexical richness, sentence structure, punctuation habits, formatting patterns, discourse markers). I was curious what AI generated news would look like. The Synthetic Standard finds real news and then generatively writes articles as well as images. One of my favorite things so far has been the images: often times they are hilarious depictions similar to a political cartoon.
