24 alternatives to VOOG – Moog-style polyphonic synthesizer in Python with tkinter GUI

Body: I built a polyphonic synthesizer in Python with a tkinter GUI styled after the Moog Subsequent 37. Features: 3 oscillators, Moog ladder filter (24dB/oct), dual ADSR envelopes, LFO, glide, noise generator, 4 multitimbral channels, 19 presets, rotary knob GUI, virtual keyboard with mouse + QWERTY input, and MIDI support. No external GUI frameworks — just tkinter, numpy, and sounddevice.

VOOG is a polyphonic synthesizer built in Python with a tkinter interface modeled after the Moog Subsequent 37. It features three oscillators, a Moog ladder filter, dual ADSR envelopes, LFO, glide, and a noise… Below are 24 products that do a similar job, ranked by how close each is in meaning and then by launch-day votes.

    This is part of my journey on pybind11. I wrote a tiny FM Synthesis library in C++ and a Python wrapper for that using pybind11. There is a command-line piano app in the examples directory if you want to play with it. Here is the link: https://github.com/charstorm/koelsynth/tree/main/examples/si... My next target is to attach this to some kind of physics simulation - like a bunch of balls moving around in a box with some internal walls. When the ball hits certain trigger points, it produces the sound.

    I built k-synth as an experiment to see if a minimalist, K-inspired array language could make sketching waveforms faster and more intuitive than traditional code. I’ve put together a web-based toolkit so you can try the syntax directly in the browser without having to touch a compiler: Live Toolkit: https://octetta.github.io/k-synth/ If you visit the page, here is a quick path to an audio payoff: - Click "patches" and choose dm-bell.ks. - Click "run"—the notebook area will update. Click the waveform to hear the result. - Click the "->0" button below the waveform to copy…

    If you already know what bytebeat is, you don't need an explanation. If not, check my project :) Here is how it looks: SELECT mono(output( arraySum(x -> 1 / 6 * running_envelope(30 * (1 + x / 6), time, 0.05 * x, 0.005, lfo(0, 0.25, sine_wave, time / 8), 0.1) * sine_wave(time * 80 * exp2(x / 3)), range(12)))) FROM table; To check how it sounds, find the examples in the repository https://github.com/ClickHouse/NoiSQL

    In 2020, Magenta released DDSP [1], a machine learning algorithm / python library which made it possible to generate good sounding instrument synthesizers from about 6-10 minutes of data. While working with DDSP for a project, we realised how it was actually quite hard to find 6-10 minute of clean recordings of monophonic instruments. In this project, we have combined the DDSP architecture with a domain adaptation technique from speech synthesis [2]. This domain adaptation technique works by pre-training our model on many different recordings from the Solos dataset [3] first and then…

    This is a (silly, little) app which lets you make noise music using a color picker as an instrument. When you click on a specific point in the color picker, a bit of JavaScript maps the binary representation of the clicked-on color's hex-code to a "chord" in the 24 tone-equal-temperament scale. That chord is then played back using a throttled audio generation method which was implemented via Tone.js. NOTE! Turn the volume way down before using the site. It is noise music. :)

    CLAVIER-36 is a programming environment for generative music. Programs are laid out in a two-dimensional grid, and evolve over time according to a fixed set of rules. The system is much like a cellular automaton, in that most of the rules governing the evolution of the system are local. C36 programs describe sequences of discrete events in time. The environment includes a primitive sampler, as a self-contained means of interpreting these events as sound. For full expressivity, though, the system is best used as a generator of data for interpretation by an external musical instrument, such as…
