For years, I have struggled to understand my cash flow and save for the future. In addition to that, my wife has many credit cards and accounts that complicate matters. I am building a tool that connects all our accounts, helps us create a budget, and tracks and adjusts expenses on the fly. I am also sprinkling some AI magic on it for financial suggestions. I am looking for feedback on the implementation. More importantly, I am looking for more beta testers to improve the product.

I went nuts on Sunday after stumbling on this animator script for the automatic branch: https://github.com/Animator-Anon/Animator And then it's a ton of keyframing. I also found that the timings all have to be earlier than the timestamp you want to account for how long it takes to denoise to your new scene - so like .4 gives smoother but longer, .7 is snappy. To get stuff to keep showing up and stay dynamic you can zoom out continuously, it needs a UI, badly. If you're on windows you'll need ffmpeg too. I watched this when it came out last week:…

I know mentioning Michael Seibel is almost cheating, but this week he demonstrated the "leaky pipes" concept to me. Not that I know the guy, but in one of his videos he says something on the lines of "If you are unsure if you app is ready to be launched, just launch it. It's like a house with leaky pipes, just open the main, grab your tools, and start fixing wherever water is leaking". Hello! I love anki and have been using it for years to learn mandarin, but I'm lazy and always struggled to get over the "motivation hump" to sit down and create a deck. Recently I've been consuming a lot of AI content from youtube, and spent 3 days creating a deck for Andrej Karpathy's "Deep Dive into LLMs" video. I wanted the raw, old skool terminal days of the early internet - BBS, and old green phosphor library comptuers - but running the modern web, with all the bells and jingle jangle whistles (JavaScript, etc). No funding, no VC, just 100% raw terminal fun. Not sure how long the demo will last, but try it out.

The idea: what if you could get a “Masterclass”-style experience, but free, using existing YouTube content? So I made OpenCademy — right now it only has two quick startup "courses" (101 & 102), built from curated YouTube clips, all embedded and organized into modules. It’s still early (no accounts, no backend), but it’s bingeable. Would love thoughts on whether this concept feels useful or just... redundant.

Saw the remotion claude skills launch earlier, and honestly even though I was surprised how decent some of the results turned out to be I ended up never trying it out with claude code because I knew I'd have to setup remotion, bundler etc and if I was already doing it once I thought I might as well turn it into a site where anyone could just write messages and get a video without any prerequisites. I also know Claude Code is not something everyone has and setting up remotion is a pain. And one of the biggest lessons I learned from this whole experience is that Opus is actually not that good…

Read an article yesterday about the H.264 codec increasing their licensing fee by an astronomical amount.
