Products that do what WebGL shape rotation game with (overkill) FoundationDB leaderboards does
I did quite a major update of this webgl game (a custom engine) to add leaderboards support. It uses the foundationdb record layer, and the time window leaderboard indexes from that. The leaderboard support was initially developed for the other game https://luduxia.com/showdown/ and the backend is common across both. This was ultimately an experiment in getting to know foundationdb, which proved quite successful.

Hello HN! We’re a small creative studio specializing in real-time 3D experiences. Netlify approached us to design and build an interactive experience to celebrate reaching 5 million developers. Inspired by the classic game Marble Madness, we created a gamified experience where users control a ball through playful, interactive levels. The goal was to blend marketing content with the look and feel of a game to engage users. The app is built with Three.js [1], using our custom render pipeline and shaders, and uses Rapier for physics simulation [2]. The 2D content is overlaid on the WebGL view…

Hi all, hope someone enjoys (or not) my weekend project. See how many matching pairs you can find in two minutes. This is written in C++ and built to WebAssembly with Emscripten. The code is at https://github.com/0xf00ff00f/rotator

Show HN: Boardzilla, a framework for making web-based board games Tldr: We’ve made a framework for web-based board games. You can try out some games over at https://boardzilla.io, or you can take a look at https://docs.boardzilla.io to learn more about how to develop your own game. Source is available at https://github.com/boardzilla Hey y’all. My brother and I have made a framework for board games. During the pandemic we started to look at BGA but got discouraged by how old-fashioned the tools were and how cumbersome the development process was. We set out…

Creator here. I built ChartGPU because I kept hitting the same wall: charting libraries that claim to be "fast" but choke past 100K data points. The core insight: Canvas2D is fundamentally CPU-bound. Even WebGL chart libraries still do most computation on the CPU. So I moved everything to the GPU via WebGPU: - LTTB downsampling runs as a compute shader - Hit-testing for tooltips/hover is GPU-accelerated - Rendering uses instanced draws (one draw call per series) The result: 1M points at 60fps with smooth zoom/pan. Live demo:…

I found that duplicating a specific block of 7 middle layers in Qwen2-72B, without modifying any weights, improved performance across all Open LLM Leaderboard benchmarks and took #1. As of 2026, the top 4 models on that leaderboard are still descendants. The weird finding: single-layer duplication does nothing. Too few layers, nothing. Too many, it gets worse. Only circuit-sized blocks of ~7 layers work. This suggests pretraining carves out discrete functional circuits in the layer stack that only work when preserved whole. The whole thing was developed on 2x RTX 4090s in my basement. I'm…

Hey HN! We're Ben and Izak, founders of Repaint (YC S23). Repaint is like Figma, but for creating real websites. It has panning, zooming, and dragging elements around. The settings closely follow html/css. We think an open canvas is a big improvement over other website builders. Everything is easier: styling, consistency, responsiveness… But making it work was hard! We thought HN would appreciate the tech behind it: - A custom WebGL rendering engine (w/text, shadows, blurs, gradients, & opacity groups) - A partial implementation of the css spec - A custom text editor & text shaper…

I love getting cool swag from hackathons and I also love designing PCB's, so when my friend asked me if I would design hackathon badges for a large game jam in singapore, I was absolutely down! The theme of overglade was a "The game jam within a game", pretty cool concept right! High schoolers from around the world were flown out to the event by hackclub after they spent about 70 hours designing their own game. These badges needed to be really cheap and simple, because we were going to manufacture about a hundred in a pretty limited amount of time. I went with a zero-power approach, which…

Here's a project I've been working on for a little while now. Ripl is a JS library that provides a unified API for rendering shapes on both canvas and SVG interchangeably. Over the years I've used D3 extensively to create data visualisations so I figured I'd have a go at making my own version with a slightly more modern API and stricter TypeScript support. I am aware there are already libraries that can draw to multiple contexts interchangeably, but I've added a few little niceties to Ripl that (as far as I know) some other libraries don't have such as CSS-like query selectors, DOM-like…

Hey HN! I’m Simone. We re-built Breadboard, a visual app builder that mixes Figma-style UI design with Shortcuts-style logic so you can build, preview, and publish interactive web apps directly from the canvas. What it does Design UIs visually with a flexible canvas –like Figma–. Define app logic with a visual, instruction-stacked editor inspired by Shortcuts. Live preview apps directly on the canvas –no separate preview window–. Publish working web apps with one click. Why we made it Modernize the HyperCard idea: combine layout, behavior, and instant sharing in one place. Reduce friction…

I am making a open source overlay library. Game overlay is for rendering contents on top of game screen. Representative examples are Discord and Steam in-game overlay. They are complicated because it has to hook rendering part of a game. Asdf overlay provides easy to use interfaces for rendering on top of game screen. I recognize game performance degradation due to overlay rendering, so GPU shared texture was used to avoid CPU framebuffer copy. Asdf Overlay is capable of rendering full screen overlay without noticeable performance loss.

Hi HN, I wanted to share a web game I’ve been building in HTML, JavaScript, MySQL, and PHP called LINEX. It is primarily designed and optimized to be played in the mobile browser. The idea is simple: you have an 8x8 board where you must place pieces (Tetris-style and some custom shapes) to clear horizontal and vertical lines. Yes, someone might think this has already been done, but let me explain. You choose where to place the piece and how to rotate it. The core interaction consists of "drawing" the piece tap-by-tap on the grid, which provides a very satisfying tactile sense of control and…
