Hey HN! I’m excited to show you my app that lets you learn any topic in a structured, bite-sized way. Each lesson has an audio version, some visuals, and interactive quizzes. They’re personalized to your background and goals, and you can pick a concept inside a lesson and ask it to go deeper. When my co-founder was at NotebookLM, he realized the biggest bottlenecks in learning are that people don’t have time or feel like they’re not smart enough. We wanted to see if software can take the mental load of figuring out what resources to use and what order to learn them in, and make lessons easy…

Hi HN! I love imagining the past, so I made Time Portal, a game where you are dropped into a historical event and see AI video footage from that moment. You have to guess where you are in time and on the map. It’s like GeoGuessr (and heavily inspired by it!) but for historical events. The videos are all created with AI. It’s a pipeline of Flux (images), Kling (video), and mmaudio (audio). The videos aren’t always historically accurate to the last detail. They might incorporate elements of folklore or have details from popular beliefs about the way things looked rather than the latest…

Hi HN, I watch A LOT of educational YouTube videos but wasn't forgetting a good chunk of the details because I was only really passively watching. So I made a tool that generates quiz questions/flashcards from YouTube videos, and uses spaced repetition like Anki or Duolingo to keep it in memory. Let me know if you find it cool/useful (or terrible ) or if you want to know a bit about the details!

This app was designed to answer my wife’s question “what country would we hit if we went straight” (generally posed while pointing her phone) But with two additional twists: 1. It loads up historical maps from different years (right now 1 BC, 700 AD, 1000 AD, 1300 AD, 1800 AD, 1900 AD) so you can see what you would hit if you had a time machine AND you went in the direction your phone is pointing 2. Tap a country/territory for an (AI-generated) blurb on what you are pointing at How it works: Starting from your phone’s bearing, we trace the great-circle in 200 km steps, prefilter…

When learning about history, I like to visualize when certain events happened relative to other events to better understand the context. I started working on this idea of using AI to take an input topic and generate an interactive timeline of important events within the topic. Some topics to try: "Tell me about the history of space exploration" "When were important fossils discovered?" "Show me when all the nintendo consoles were released" For now the generated events must be "known" by the LLM. One idea to improve event generation is to hook the AI up to a Wikipedia MCP server or something.…
