Products that do what Wikipedia and Llama 3 70B does

Hey everyone! I built a little app for exploring Wikipedia. https://atlaslib.com/wikipedia You can tap on a suggestion or ask anything. Why? Wikipedia is awesome but search on Wikipedia unfortunately is not. I often use Google to search Wikipedia but I wondered if there is a more direct way. Some of the huge Wikipedia articles (e.g. animals, biology, history, health, science) are thorough but a bit dry. A language model like llama 3 70b helps with both: discovery and with making a dry topic more approachable. behind the scenes: - client: 150 lines vanilla javascript, tailwind…

Connect two articles on Wikipedia, but do it the long way. I've always been a fan of the theory of six degree of separation, but it's an overused concept when exploring the Wiki-graph. Instead of showing the shortest path, which in my opinion is "boring" and ends up connecting super-important central articles, I came up with my own method: WikiBinge selects the smaller, less represented articles on Wikipedia. In a WikiBinge path, the underdogs are the kings! How does it work? It's pretty straightforward! Compute PageRank on the Wiki-graph and assign as weight of each edge the PageRank value…

I was inspired by Andy Matuschak's Evergreen Notes viewer and created this small web app to browse Wikipedia in the same way. Clicking on a link opens the content in a new pane to the right. And you can resize panes. It's really nice for following rabbit holes or checking out lists from articles. Let me know what you think! Code here: https://github.com/steezeburger/wikipedia-browser

Hi HN, WikTok is a UI for Wikipedia that lets you quickly swipe (or use your arrow keys) to navigate between random and recommended articles (based on the previous articles you interacted most with). It's just a fun project I hacked together this weekend, so may be a little rough around the edges, but I'd love to get your thoughts. Let me know if you have any suggestions (or find any interesting articles!) Cheers,

Hello HN, Over the last 12 months, I have been building https://learnawesome.org This idea came from Danny Hillis' 2012 talk at OSCON, which itself was inspired from Neal Stepehenson's _The Diamond Age : A Young Lady's Illustrated Primer_ The dream is to build a tool that matches the right learning material to the right student at the right time. Wikipedia is great, but it doesn't do a good job of leveraging the rich variety of learning resources that exist on the Web. Same applies to GoodReads - which is focused only on books, whereas these days we actually learn from videos,…
