Hi HN! Thanks for your attention to my post. It was a big challenge to run most of Node.js packages in browser, fast moreover. Virtual File system, resolve import/export. I got cold many times, depressions, burned out, yet still alive and finished it. Many guys helped me with an advice. Many users give a lot of positive feedback. There are 200,000 monthly unique users. I work full time now because of the freemium business model. To be honest - I am happy after many years of hard work.

Colin here, creator of Nub. I’ve had the general shape of this in mind for years. Nub runs your code with stock `node`, augmented with a `--require` preload hook[0] that adds a transpiler (oxc-powered, packaged as a Node-API add-on), registers a module resolution hook[1], and injects polyfills as needed for APIs like `Worker`, `Temporal`, etc. All purely additive, your code ultimately runs using Node’s actual engine & stdlib implementations. I got sick of: - Re-writing the same Terraform for the same common AWS infrastructure - Re-writing the same Rails code to build the same webapp - Re-configuring the same monitoring systems & CI/CD pipelines - Spending a week in dependency & configuration hell wiring it all together When I was launching my first two startups, I wished I had a strong starting point with all of the best practices & technology configured out-of-the-box. Every tool I found wanted to lock me in to some PaaS provider (that might not even exist in a year) who wanted to take a premium on my infrastructure spend…

Hi everyone I'm new here and i wanted to introduce my project i've been working on. Astra is a simple but powerful node.js to exe compiler. It uses esbuild and Node SEA. It uses postject to inject your code to nodejs binary. It focuses more on compiling cli and Servers like pkg or nexe (express) than fullstack applications like electron or tauri. It has rich ESM and typescript support. It has good DX and cli UX. I made it bc i didn't like using pkg or nexe, they cause a lot of problems with esm. LIMITATIONS: Now it has problems compiling projects with depencides containing binaries (e.g.…

You might have heard that scaling WebSocket infrastructure is not an easy task. It was true–until recently. We built the open source real-time server, AnyCable, that deploys to Fly.io in one command (and configures itself), and the SDK for serverless JS/TS that allows you to build real-time features without any 3d-party PaaS. We call it a real-time server, because it has WebSockets and more, and it’s easy to run and scale. Here’s all you need to add real-time to your Next.js/Vercel app: – Deploy AnyCable to Fly.io with one command (see the docs) – In your Vercel app add one…
