yt-fts is a simple python script that uses yt-dlp to scrape all of a youtube channels subtitles and load them into an sqlite database that is searchable from the command line. It allows you to query a channel for specific key word or phrase and will generate time stamped youtube urls to the video containing the keyword.

hi, this is a project I've been working on and off for the last three months, it's my first non-trivial, non-hello-world, actually useful (at least to me) go project. it would be very nice if you could just try the program and see if it works on your setup! the readme[0] explains how it works, why I wrote it and how it fits in my "command-line centric" computing environment (there is also a video demo[1] :)). if you know go, feel free to take a look at the code and review it! Hey HN, I've been working on this side project for the past month. It generates a step-by-step tutorial guide for YouTube videos that you can follow along without watching long videos. I found the manual process of downloading various YouTube assets painful so built a simple app to help myself and hopefully others.
