Hey, it’s Brendan – creator of Vid2Sum, a free AI-powered YouTube summarizer. I built this to help people save time by getting the key takeaways from long videos instantly. You can try it here: www.vid2sum.com I made this because, like many of you, I often find myself jumping around in YouTube videos, trying to find the most relevant parts. Instead of scrubbing through hours of content, I wanted an AI tool that could generate concise summaries in seconds. Making this effective required optimizing three key things: accuracy, speed, and usability. The AI had to generate relevant summaries…

Hi! I'm living as an expat in France and I had a hard time following the news. So I've been working on Fluentsubs that turns YouTube content into a language learning experience. YouTube videos up to 20 minutes can be transcribed and listened to. At the same time I made it easy to lookup certain words and automatically add spaced repetition cards using the given context. This means that you can also rehearse with a real voice and not with AI dubs. This works especially well for the somewhat smaller languages that have a small track on Duolingo, and now are desperately looking for content…

I saw this app youlearn.ai on YC and thought of building it. They are claiming to have 1M+ users with just one feature which is to convert your learning material into summaries, quizzes etc. I gave this a shot and cloned almost most of the features in just 9+ hours of continous vibe coding (with 20% manual though). Now I'm selling this on mvp marketplace. Might probably open source it in future or give it free.

Live demo here: http://fonctionlabs.com:8000 Similarly to aka_sh (guess we were working parallelly on similar topics), I created with my brother a chainlit-based webapp, which summarizes Youtube videos in order to gain time. It works as an RAG-based LLM, and is very light in the sense that it does not use RAG libraries like langchain or llamaindex. You can use it with your own OpenAI API key. It also supports local models like Mistral, or Llamma. It is ofc open-source, and you can deploy with Docker if you choose. Some of the next steps are: - using whisper to be able to compute a…

Hello, HackerNews community! I'm thrilled to announce the release of QuickVid - An Open Sourced AI Video Summarization Tool. This tool empowers you to generate concise summaries of YouTube videos using the power of artificial intelligence. GitHub Repository: https://github.com/metaloozee/quickvid Demo: https://quickvid-alpha-69c4256152f9.herokuapp.com/ NOTE: The demo might only work properly if you provide a short video, providing a long video will take more time and eventually heroku will timeout the API requests. Thanks.
