Hi, most people (hopefully) have local backups. However, when that backup fails, it is good to have a backup stored somewhere off-site. In the old days you would ship physical drives/tapes, which is cumbersome, costly, and slow. With fast upload speeds, it is now possible to upload your data to the cloud. I have found S3 Glacier Deep Archive to be a great solution for this: - It is very cheap ($1/TB/month for US region) - Very reliable (99.999999999% data durability, data spread over 3 Availability Zones) However, usability out of the box is not that great, I'm not aware of…

After the major outages from AWS and Cloudflare, I began wondering how to make my own services more resilient. Using nameservers from different providers is doable but a bit tricky to manage. I had this backup code working reliably for years, using local file system, vps/dedicated server, or remote storage for backup, then I finally get time to wrap README, iron few missing switches and publish. Should be production ready and reliable, so it could be useful to others. Contributors are welcome.

We needed to find an up-to-date list of DNS servers used by carriers around the world for a proxy fingerprinting / web-scraping project but we were shocked to find that it didn’t exist so we built it ourselves in an internal Hackathon We’re adding more features but so far we: Test 77K+ servers every ~10 minutes Allow filtering by uptime, location, security features (ad blocking, malware protection, DNSSEC) Show info on IPv6…
