1+1 CleanMode
Clean your Mac without accidental clicks or keystrokes
What it does
1+1 CleanMode is a privacy-first macOS menu bar app for safer device cleaning. Use Full Cleaning to block keyboard and pointer input, Keyboard Only to protect against stray keystrokes, or Screen Only for a calm cleaning surface. Customize colors, displays, countdowns, timers, sounds, and a friendly companion. Everything runs locally—no accounts, analytics, cloud services, or recorded input. Try Screen Only free with CleanMode Lite on the Mac App Store, or get the Full edition on Gumroad.
1+1 CleanMode blocks accidental keyboard and pointer input while you safely clean your Mac, with private, local-only operation.
Block accidental keyboard and pointer input while you wipe down your Mac, cover every display, and exit safely when you’re done. Temporarily suppress keyboard, click, and scroll activity while you clean. Protect one screen or every connected display with a calm cleaning surface. Leave Cleaning Mode with a fixed, deliberate safety shortcut. A keyboard keeps accepting input even when you only mean to wipe it. 1+1 CleanMode gives you a safer pause between work and cleaning. A cat or another curious pet can walk across your keyboard, trigger shortcuts, and close a file before your latest work is saved. The login screen still accepts keystrokes. Cleaning can enter repeated incorrect passwords…from 1plus1labs.com

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
