5 Years Ago I made the Recovery Kit, I just made the RK2
The Recovery Kit 2 is another cyberdeck that for me is part computer, part backup device, and part functional movie prop. It's been fun to build, and the HN community has been great with ideas- especially around hosting and getting me off Squarespace. I hope you all enjoy!

In plain words
The Recovery Kit 2 is a cyberdeck—a portable computer built from vintage and custom components. It functions as a working computer, data backup device, and aesthetically striking object suitable for display or film use. The creator designed it as a personal project combining practical utility with retro-inspired design, and refined the build based on community feedback.

If you're not familiar with the Recovery Kit, it's something I made back in 2019 and posted to my original back7.co blog. I created it before I knew what a "cyberdeck" was beyond a simple part of William Gibson's Neuromancer. I wanted a rugged computer enclosure

Pressdeck2025 · pressdeck.io · ▲311As a long time indie developer, I always needed a way to promote our products, talk to influencers, journalists, and share our story. Press kits are essentials to make these communications smoother and more pleasant. However, sharing information via public Google Drive folders and Dropbox folders is outdated and does not leave a lasting impression... So, I've built Pressdeck - an online press kit builder your products! I'd love for your to try it out and let me know how to make it better for your niche!
Roons – Mechanical Computer Kit2025 · whomtech.com · ▲203I built a mechanical computer kit: https://whomtech.com/show-hn tl;dr: it's a cellular automaton on a "loom" of alternating bars, using contoured tiles to guide marbles through logic gates. It's not just "Turing complete, job done"; I've tried to make it actually practical. Devices are compact, e.g. you can fit a binary adder into a 3cm square. It took me nearly two years and dozens of different approaches. There's a sequence of interactive tutorials to try out, demo videos, and a janky simulator. I've also sent out a few prototype kits and have some more ready to go. Please…
