64.surf – share files using only the URL
Hey HN, I built this to scratch an itch I had around what can be done solely using the URL. It's very minimal with no storage involved, and your files can even be encrypted. The only caveat is some platforms wont allow you to post long links. I thought about using a URL shortener, but storing and mapping URLs kind of defeats the purpose. However most browsers do allow you to open them once you have them. For instance I was able to "share" a 10MB file using safari, however 350KB seems to be the max for Chrome.

In plain words
64.surf is a file-sharing tool that encodes files directly into URLs, requiring no storage or server infrastructure. Users can share files by sending the URL to others, who can then open and download them in their browser. Files can optionally be encrypted. The service works best with smaller files, with browser limitations ranging from 350KB in Chrome to 10MB in Safari, and some platforms may not support posting the long URLs required.
