A solar system simulation in the browser
I didn't realize Universe Sandbox ran on MacOS, and I was in the mood to play around a bit. Some functions it's got: - Random system generation - Sonification is super fun too - Habitability Simulation (Just for fun, don't cite this please) - Replacing, spawning, deleting objects I've had tons of fun building this, so I hope someone else can share the joy. It's free and runs in the browser. I'd love to hear any feedback. I think this is at a state where I might leave it as it is, but if people are interested in other features, maybe I'll keep working on it. I've kept saying I'll stop working…

In plain words
This browser-based solar system simulation lets users generate, explore, and manipulate virtual star systems. Features include random system generation, object creation and deletion, habitability simulation, and sonification that converts celestial data into sound. Designed for anyone interested in astronomy and interactive space exploration, it runs entirely in the browser at no cost. The tool emphasizes playful experimentation over scientific accuracy.

Build and break solar systems with real N-body gravity in your browser. Fly rockets, and see why Earth
Educators: if you use Luna in a classroom or lecture hall, a few sentences from you would help me get funding to build out Luna's teaching tools. It costs you nothing, and you'd have a say in what gets built. Get in touch with your name, institution, and how you use it. Luna simulates the Solar System with full N-body gravity: every star, planet, and major moon pulls on every other. Drop a second Jupiter next to Earth, or crank up the Sun's mass, and every orbit responds in real time. There's also Rocket Academy for building and staging rockets until one reaches orbit, and a scattering playground where mixing atmospheric gases shows why Earth's sky is blue and Mars's is butterscotch. I really like the look of the famous album art for Unknown Pleasures [1]. It was originally created by Harold Craft at the Arecibo Observatory from the signals of the first discovered radio pulsar [2]. I made a spectrogram that produces a similar look. It runs FFT in Rust and visualizes it with WebGL. [1]: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:UnknownPleasuresVinyl.jpg [2]: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PSR_B1919%2B21
Galaxium, an experimental WebGPU space explorerAug 2026 · galaxium.app · ▲137Hello, I am the creator and maintainer of Stellarium Mobile. I have been working in my free time for about a year on this new project Galaxium, that is more about traveling in the universe rather than looking at the sky from Earth. It is still experimental, and at the moment I am not sure what it will become. Feedback is welcome.

Community, All the HN belong to you. This is an archive of hacker news that fits in your browser. When I made HN Made of Primes I realized I could probably do this offline sqlite/wasm thing with the whole GBs of archive. The whole dataset. So I tried it, and this is it. Have Hacker News on your device. Go to this repo (https://github.com/DOSAYGO-STUDIO/HackerBook): you can download it. Big Query -> ETL -> npx serve docs - that's it. 20 years of HN arguments and beauty, can be yours forever. So they'll never die. Ever. It's the unkillable static archive of HN and it's…
