In plain words

This interactive tool provides a 3D model of the Enigma machine used by the German military during World War II. Users can explore the machine's internal electrical circuits and rotor mechanisms to understand how encryption worked. The resource explains how Allied cryptanalysts decrypted Enigma-encoded messages by exploiting weaknesses in both the machine's design and its operating procedures. It is designed for anyone interested in cryptography, military history, or the technical mechanics of early encryption technology.

From the sources

The German military used Enigma during World War II to send encrypted messages. Polish, British, and French cryptanalysts used weaknesses in the machine and its operating procedures to decrypt intercepted communications. A telegraph operator taps the encrypted letters in Morse code, which are then sent over a radio transmitter. Anyone can listen in on the radio signal, but they can't read your message. The Germans distributed top-secret sheets with the initial Enigma settings for each day of the month. These sheets were not allowed on planes, were printed with water-soluble ink, and were a tightly guarded secret. Set a letter with A–Z or the up and down arrow keys. You can also drag the…from enigma.design

I implemented the Enigma encryption machine and Bombe decryption device in eBPF to honor Alan Turing's legacy. This project uses eBPF to process network packets through virtual Enigma rotors and reflectors, just like the original WWII-era machines. Messages sent through virtual interfaces are not only encrypted but also decrypted in real-time, demonstrating how Turing's pioneering work can be reimagined with modern systems programming. The implementation includes configurable rotors, reflectors, and position settings.

    Satoshi9000 analog BTC key generator (mechanical)2024 · ▲164

I built this machine so I could generate Bitcoin keys that I could trust. Air-gapped and simple to use and understand (mechanical). The Satoshi 9000 demo: https://youtu.be/bJiOia5PoGE The key value proposition of the machine is that it generates analog randomness in the physical world and converts it into digital (1’s and 0’s) randomness. Seamlessly. But it occurs to me that it may have other uses beyond crypto keys for your own use, such as: * Randomized clinical trials. Clinical trials need a high degree of transparency for ethical reasons; also, for legal reasons should it…
